Engineers Hull damage FX while shields are up..needs a balance pass ?

What can be seen from that is that due to phasing, most of the shortest TTK's were on the FdL's - somewhat contrary to the usual rule, which is that FdL's have much higher effective hit point pools against conventional weaponry than, for example, an FAS.

this means, the phasing effect ignores hull hardness. thats where the FdL's usual hull strength comes from - its "above its sizes hull hardness".
that also means, this effect is perfect for small weapons against the large ships. (as seen in threeofseven's hauler vs. corvette vid)

Yes, phasing does not take into account hull hardness, range, resistances, damage type (relevant to plasma), hit location or any other factor, afaik.

It's simply a flat c.12% of weapon damage output applied to the hull of the target upon every shield hit.

Phasing can, however, crack canopies - because all hull damage potentially affects the canopy. When I'm phasing, most of my targets report canopy loss at around 30% hull, although there are occasional exceptions both ways.

does that mean a phasing overcharged plasma cannon could be fun too?

I'm using some phasing weapons on my ships, mostly as a way to deal at least some damage to combat optimized PvP ships that attack me - because there's no way I can drop the shield of a FDL or Corvette before I have to run away.

It does work well on lightweight iCouriers and some FDLs but it's mostly useless against FASes and Corvettes. Recently I fought a Corvette that didn't lose a single percent of hull after multiple hits from 3 phasing plasma accelerators, so I wouldn't call it overpowered.

I haven't had a chance to actually test it, but I'm very tempted by the idea of putting a single phasing pulse turret on large ships to pressure small, evasive opponents like Couriers.
