[HUMOR;BUG] First time at Prof. Palin's...

Ok, if you'd prefer to simply blindly hate them for imagined atrocities and kicking your virtual puppy then go right ahead. Personally I prefer to know what I'm talking about, but hey, you go for it.

Are you talking about all those employees they drove to suicide a couple of years ago?

if you wait long enough it will kinda land and sink through the planet

Lol it didn't for me, but I believe you, I recorded a couple minutes after but shortened it for the thread. I landed and did my rolls and such and when I left it was still there "doing the robot".

So the Corvette is not there to protect Palin but to spy on him?

When not dancing it's pointed right at him. Being American I can say that they're probably doing the whole "you're being sanctioned by the US Military and President of the United States to ______" Which in this case is investigate the Aliens and report back to them. As they went back up to the Vette they probably also said "we'll be watching you"...

That's how it played out in my head anyways. I am not sure whether it's written anywhere for sure but the assumption I always got was the Federation was USA, Empire was UK, and Alliance was the rest.

thats nothing
when i got into my first "lvl4 distress call" with my brand new corvette,

i found one disable faragout and as "attacker" a sidewinder, an eagle and a cobra.
once i have removed those powerfull opponents, i got a warning of an incomming hyperjump

then a PIRATE farragout jumped in (ok, how do pirates get their hands on a capship??)
and no, it didnt start to attack.
it was drifting away in the direction it left hyperspace, and was spinning so fast, that all the crew must have been decimated to goo on the walls.

all that was left, was a burning capship, a baffled corvette commander and an invisible wall where the pirate capship came out of hyperspace.

THIS and the falling skimmer bug makes me hope for 2.4 to come sooner then later, since FDEV seems not to be able to hotfix anything until then...

Did someone leave a window open? I can hear a door banging!

Don't joke about that.
Half a lifetime ago I worked on the oil rigs. In the rough weather open cabin doors would bang keeping the off shift crew awake. Or if your Opo (the person who had your cabin when you were onshore) had left coat hangers on the locker rail to knock together. It was so annoying.
Grr!

Like facts ever had anything to do with Apple.

OS X is based on FreeBSD, has a custom (mach) kernel, and has never used X as a display engine. Apple are many things; but to just be so incredibly wrong about the basics is, well, embarrassing. And has nothing to do with the topic at all.

"The rare breakdancing farragut; you can see as it dips its head, hunting for the imperials it feeds on for nourishment. Here, in the beige world, among the stars."

Urrrghh, why did I have to look in on this thread again?

So I got the flavour of Unix it's based on wrong. The level of pedantry you need to be able to see the difference between ANY Unix derivative would make Raymond Babbitt look like Donald Trump anyway so who cares?

And as for X-Windows, the point there is that when you scratch [just] below the surface of a Mac it looks like an ancient attempt to make Unix user-friendly. A totally pointless exercise anyway as the only people who like Unix don't really WANT it to be user friendly because that would endanger their geekdom.

And while I'm on this rant, lets just point out that the *only* new thing Apple have ever come up with was realising that if you make the icons bigger on touch-screen, people could use their fat fingers to use it instead of needing a stylus.

But somehow that, and the worlds most impressive marketing machine, is all they've needed to convince everyone that they invented smart phones and that everyone should pay ridiculous amounts for their over-hyped devices.

Go figure.

So many words. So much wrong.
