After a long sabbatical (1.5 years) from Elite Dangerous, I'm pressing forward again. I only had 360 hours with EDO, so I'm still a newbie, but not enough to fall for the Hutton Orbital suggestion for a new ship, past that stage at least.
My home station is in ROSS 780 and I get those Hutton Orbital missions once in awhile that have great pay offs. I couldn't help it, I only had 32 million credits, with a goal to buy every ship in the game (minus the Cobra Mk IV), so I needed every credit I can get. I do not research online for get rich by doing X,W, and Z, because I want to do the discovery myself, since I'm hoping to spend thousands of hours on this digital genius of a game. Same for engineering grind, don't want to know loop holes, log outs, etc. I'll do the old fashion way please.
Anyway, back to Hutton Orbital. What I do like about this mission is that it is such a long travel time, and I know what is coming, I gear up for it. An IPA beer or a tall glass of Crown Royal Reserve and coke. At the same time, I turn up Sidewinder Radio, the very best companion app for my cockpit, can't do those long runs without it. Plus my HCS voice packs (own them all), I am so prepared for this oh so long journey. I have flown it at least eight times and if the reward is there, I'll jump on it again. And again.
In VR, as you drink your beverage and listen to the awesome tunes, commercials, and news on Sidewinder Radio, you admire your cockpit and all it's wonderous details, as well as the 3d holographic projection information panels (don't know how 2d flat screen can appreciate them) and admire how much we have in Elite Dangerous. The Hutton Orbital gives a lot of time to contemplate it. Boy does it ever. You can't do much else!
I find it amazing that such a mission I would appreciate because of the, well, my greed for the credits, but also I just enjoy this truck driver part of the game. It is a time to relax, enjoy the art of the ship's cockpit, and drink so much that Hutton Orbital soon appears as two stations as I try to land.
Looking forward to the next Hutton Orbital mission... well, if the payoff is worth it and my booze is stocked.
