Parks Hydra Lake

Hi guys, this is a park I started because I wanted to make a coaster similar to Hydra: The Revenge at Dorney Park... and everything just developed around that.

wwJpMQ6.jpg

This is Werewolf (yes I just kept the coaster name)... it's a variation on the Hyrda: The Revenge layout.

HFx0CGj.jpg

It still has the same inversions apart from the Banana Loop instead of the Cobra Roll.

w4VQ2SZ.jpg

The Rhine River is a rapids close to what will be the European style entrance of the park.

KCwrl0U.jpg

DmmOZKY.jpg

It meanders under and around the footpath.

kekbIxW.jpg

This is a kid's/garden style area.

Golden Arrow is a large B&M invert behind the River Rhine mountain.

On the other side of the park is Timberbeast, an Intamin woodie.

KD2xFNN.jpg

I kinda wanted to create an Intamin Voyage.

qLWhjuZ.jpg

The coaster is part of an area called River Town.

apACc0l.jpg

The log flume with working title Saw Mill Falls has three drops.

The final drop dives into a canyon.

More on RIver Town next!

So River Town is developing...

Da1odeI.jpg

The thrill ride in the centre of it all is called Dr. Riverton's Amazing Machine! (Working title)

RgP0Z29.jpg

The story of the town involves Dr. Riverton trying all sorts of wild experiments on it's residents and animals.

74vv2oA.jpg

The said Doctor inhabits Riverton Manor, which over looks River Town and it's strange goings on.

LRgC5KS.jpg

SiBmiJ0.jpg

Riders journey into Riverton's basement lab.

Wj0ENNn.jpg

A monster lurks at the end of the course...

qItTBZJ.jpg

The house in daylight... the ride's pretty popular too!

npebzzq.jpg

Next door to Riverton Manor, the Timberbeast is kept in an abandoned church.

5lwAvcW.jpg

Triggered water effects have also been added to Saw Mill Falls.

hOfiYxx.jpg

tI7Gxkj.jpg

A water burst erupts from a spout in the roof before the log leaves the building, and water drops after screaming riders!

kveL6pv.jpg

More buildings popping up. (Still yet to give them all a bit more detail... that's not my forte!)

siztqTS.jpg

Entering into the town.

Another coaster, River Town Express that I'm working on.

This is quite a project. Lots of good work so far. Can't wait to see how it develops. I particularly like the big log flume elevated buildings. I have no idea what those would be in real life but they definitely look like something you'd expect to see in some sort of timber-related industrial setting and also look great in the game.

Thanks heaps! To be honest I'm not really sure how it would work or what it would be in real life either ha ha... but this is a theme park! Just wanted to give the air of an imposing mill.

Here's what will be a rather large update, as I'll be away from the puter over Christmas!

I've developed the River Town Express which extends into the 'wilderness' below River Town. I'm kind of erratic and like to get the main rides in before I fill in all the buildings ect.

GeZPbD8.jpg

The first view of the station.

BiZP73I.jpg

The station facade and lift.

7tSCmDm.jpg

I like my mine train coasters to traverse the terrain... As a result it's not a very tall coaster.

JPZiRBi.jpg

I use the gentle slope to create speed.

CZbXapn.jpg

VSLfkI5.jpg

Tried to make the lift look a little more rustic and natural.

vhJ23ua.jpg

The race to the final brake run is the most intense portion, with a sudden drop into a cave.

9iaUpv9.jpg

I brought in the lake to give a bit more interest to the composition... it's got a Big Thunder Mountain thing going on with the cat walk.

DqlYzMV.jpg

C6BjPtZ.jpg

The first drop dives into the back of a storeroom.

Said store room/building/warehouse thingy is theming for a Top Spin called Hauler. The idea is that the large machine was used to lift goods to the roof, but someone seems to have tampered with it. [weird]

5kgdQZQ.jpg

This ride has been given more theming... not sure of what to call it yet. Something to do with propulsion.

2ZZZ75b.jpg

And I eventually got to work on more buildings and the entrance to the area.

I like that beside the entrance you get a good view of the splashdown.

IYhiCZk.jpg

An overview of the area.

YKZ2uf5.jpg

Different angle.

tUdBCTS.jpg

And to end... a bit more of an atmospheric shot!

More after Christmas! And Merry Christmas!

Very nice park!

On the subject of the hammer ride needing more theming, maybe take inspiration from the legend of John Henry. Or the musical version:

Nice! I've already got the big barn soundtrack (or whatever it's called) for it which has a similar sort of cheer... sounds like a typical fanfare in a western movie as it pans over a frontier town!

Just another quick update before I go on holidays, taking a break from the River Town area to complete the general layout of the park, and create the area on the far side of the lake. It's going to be a Sci-fi/Futuristic area in a tropical setting.

iQP4DZ2.jpg

The first flat ride is Down Force and is placed so it can be seen throughout the park.

ov1llrR.jpg

The coaster next to it is called Project Air. The turn that goes out onto the water is completely 90 degrees.

uVhLnoU.jpg

The area will be covered with palms and ferns.

RSwibDW.jpg

I have also placed a monorail... not sure if I like it yet, they can interfere with vistas!

hs3ENgY.jpg

qOQLM1O.jpg

It hugs the centre lake. I have also added a Collider and one of those crazy shuttle rides.

w4pc0Jl.jpg

cFX6Rbf.jpg

The main path layout is complete.

I'm really liking the look of this park. There's some really nice theming. Riverton Manor looks nice and creepy and the Mine train coaster looks fun. There's loads to explore here and some nice little touches. I'm looking forwards to seeing more.

Thanks so much! Just a few more images of the developing Sci-Fi area!

Hi guys, Happy New Year!

I'm back from holidays and I've been working solely on a Sci-Fi dark ride that I'm calling Robotix for now. It's taken a while but I'm almost finished and I'm liking it! These triggers are so fun to play with.

I haven't settled on a final plot for the ride yet, but at the moment it's based around an off-planet Robot factory that has shown signs of a significant malfunction, and guests have been assigned the task of investigating what has happened.

5q7IzJf.jpg

This is most of the layout of the ride.

DcuNkxF.jpg

I use a lot of dark walls and then illuminate certain objects in the rooms with directional lights.

Rr3s9tO.jpg

The outside isn't finished yet but I'm liking the look of the black with the white.

743eM4A.jpg

As you saw, the ride is a hyper-coaster and has coaster elements.

hpKfCvH.jpg

It begins with a routine scan of our investigators.

CdRmp0X.jpg

The reception looks friendly enough.

UuaTSwX.jpg

Our crew then ascends into the ship to see what's gone wrong.

3xm4zHc.jpg

The robots have gone haywire!

4XWfEwL.jpg

Riders hear an explosion and the alarm system goes off. The next room has been cut off by the explosion.

F0B8FTJ.jpg

The crew has no choice but to dive into the dark depths of the ship.

6AjVKGY.jpg

We pass the ships generator.

HpBY6Vr.jpg

It looks like we're climbing to safety.

53XRqZe.jpg

But we drop into a final exploding chamber! It includes a storeroom with weapons that the robots must have engaged... they fire at thrilled riders.

And that's all for today... I'd really love to make a video of it but I'm not experienced in all that stuff. Maybe this might get me to learn how to do it.

Just a quick update with a little dive coaster I decided to build on the island in the Sci-fi area. I needed a break from the minutia of decorating and programming triggers on the dark ride and decided to build a coaster!

The coaster is called Blue Dwarf.

8mYCJLE.jpg

It's got a short compact layout.

U3GQHgA.jpg

Q4AK5ou.jpg

I like to push the envelope of coasters in my imagination so this is the first B&M dive coaster to break the 90 degree drop, although only by a little bit! B&M are a bit conservative. [yesnod]

ygmpuLr.jpg

The station will be themed to an observatory... but I'll get to that later. Might be a couple more coasters before I build again!

78ozF2a.jpg

The coaster dominates the entrance to Odyssey Island... which is a name for the area I'm playing with.

KxjTfM8.jpg

It fills the area in a bit.

3gkPlXt.jpg

And just some pretty shots.

I'm determined to finish this dark ride, so here are a few pics of the station/start/end of the ride.

nUsej10.jpg

The station... through the window behind, guests waiting can see the cars speed into the brake run. It's amazing the scenes you can create with this game!

RiGupM1.jpg

The brake run.

dhcMbhl.jpg

Leading back into the station.

X2vNxGn.jpg

The lead up to the first set of doors. As you can see the monorail passes through the area.

0iuvt5l.jpg

eHJPna5.jpg

Another station shot with the train.

So I decided to open the ride and have just got some pictures of it in action. I've gotta say, it works so well... there are four trains on the course and they cycle so well. While one train is boarding another arrives. And it's so cool seeing the monorail interacting with the ride.

wK5L5D5.jpg

The exterior is coming along... still needs work though.

lfNbGHB.jpg

The first section of the queue is just simple. And plays The Cosmic Balance instrumental.

SlMZ9eL.jpg

As I said, I'm really happy with the interaction of the station area. While a car is loading guests can see the next car rush into the brake run with screaming riders, while the monorail passes overhead.

And into the brake run.

Hey guys, Odyssey Island is developing so I thought I'd share another update. Feel free to give feedback!

First, I did Blue Dwarf's station... it's an observatory and I'm pretty happy with the look of it!

mxsMUHt.jpg

FogbRSN.jpg

e589kn7.jpg

Hnj1m8d.jpg

I added a little donut shop on the side. Come to think of it, it really should be a Cosmic Cow.

kkRXr0I.jpg

My pilot training/hanger thingy is a work in progress. The smaller is called Taurus, and the bigger Gemini.

scTYuEv.jpg

And a new coaster! At the moment it's name is Plasma.

NCyUd7Q.jpg

It's a thrilling family coaster with a lot of turns and airtime.

yRA7A8J.jpg

It's got three launches.

btFG7K3.jpg

I've also started filling in tree-age. It's gonna be surrounded by tropical, but have the manicured look of the Observatory near the paths.

ty9f5yF.jpg

Scenic shot.

This is amazing work, and very inspirational. I have been playing a lot of Elite: Dangerous lately, but spent most of the past week sick, and having a difficult time getting back in the cockpit after so many days off...this park has reignited my desire to fire up Planet Coaster again, which I shall do after work, post haste!

I love this park.

That's coming along quite nicely. The overall style really flows.

I didn't know any launched coasters allowed kids on them, though. Which one is it?

^Thanks so much! What a compliment! Also cool to see Elite Dangerous peoples having a go at Planet Coaster.

^^ Thanks! Yeah I've gotta get down and tie everything in with station and infrastructure buildings and everything but that's my least favourite thing to do! Oh really? I haven't done a lot of launched coasters yet so I didn't notice that kids didn't go on them. Either way the coaster isn't hugely intense. In the real world Gerstlauer are making launched family coasters (Look up Firechaser Express), and Intamin do as well (Jet Rescue).

So just adding and adding. Starting to like how Odyssey Island is shaping up... it was looking a bit rough for a while there. But this game just pays off when you put in the effort.

2kt4JjD.jpg

Shout out to this gal riding Robotix on her lonesome.

yvL0Obz.jpg

So I've cleaned up the show building and facade and given it a similar look to the observatory.

bgFfIWJ.jpg

Robots are out trimming the hedges. And the robot mascot (I've forgotten his name!) patrols the area.

3Jqy2Af.jpg

A little rest area that guests probably won't use, but it's purdy.

AYxCczA.jpg

A closer look on the entrance.

gWWONjC.jpg

VrTQIMY.jpg

A look from across the bridge.

fFvP4ZS.jpg

yfJb3yl.jpg

I also added a little tunnel for Project Air to fly through.

xVEZpq0.jpg

YSczlo4.jpg

8huqspO.jpg

This'll be the next area to work on.

TC26uyH.jpg

And just a couple of different angles.

aXWSedT.jpg

Another update, and this time I spent time developing the front European style area.

TcykIOW.jpg

Just beautifying the area and trying to make everything blend in.

vGI5aXg.jpg

Kx4bdZS.jpg

The Golden Arrow now has a ruined castle station.

ar1o2sG.jpg

Nice and scenic.

88fA182.jpg

gDDUKVF.jpg

bvCndOZ.jpg

I also added a few more rocks and things to the mountain area of Rhine River.

spOk7hZ.jpg

More trees and things around the car ride, called Sunday Drive.

8A4rxKb.jpg

There will be a small boardwalk themed are below Werewolf.

yqMhzcn.jpg

A few images looking over the park.
