Hyperspace conduit between Earth and Colonia

Uggg... One of these fancy dancy engineers need to start research in how to create a reusable hyperspace conduit between Earth and Colonia. It's a pain getting there and then realizing that you have to travel back. x.x
What about Felicity Farseer? This seems right up her alley.

What technology would it take to make this happen? It would take a significant amount of power. They might have to suspend a generator(2) above a black hole, feeding it matter, while the generator harnesses the energy of the matter falling into the black hole. So I guess the portals would have to be located in the black hole systems. And then the generators would be vulnerable. Aha! New gameplay! Protect the generators!

And then would come the pirates, gankers, killers and reapers. A dedicated force would have to be stationed at each port to make sure "undesireables" don't get through. And what would be the dangers of such hyperspace travel to such a long distance? What if one of the generators were to be destroyed? What would happen to the ships already travelling in the conduit?! /shiver...

So, that's what I'd like to see.

Now here come the naysayers and the "what, this bubble isn't big enough for you?" people. lmao
I know you're coming, and I welcome you all, except for the "undesireables..." :p

Nick one of the Thargoid's galaxy-shift drives, and only give it 33% power... It's not accurate, but it'll get you somewhere far away...

No thank you, I would expect the trip to be long and hazardous. Take that away and there is nothing special about going there.

Pretty sure Sandro in a live stream a few months back said there wouldn't be any kind of this sort of thing the OP has suggested. However he also said never say never. For me though the point in exploring is it takes time and is dangerous and boring ;) I enjoy it though

If you've read these forums before, you must know what reaction you are going to get. ;)

And I'm dead against it too. I've been to Colonia several times - no hyperspace is needed. You can get there in just a few hours when neutron jumping.

Yeah there is the 'neutron highway' there and that should be all there should be.

Maybe they could add some persistent pirates along the way that could break trek for some people. Possibly even add some pirate bases/systems along the way.

I am not looking for the easy way.
However, Jaques did it in one jump because reasons.
Therefore, is should be possible to have massive ships do that with enough fuel and a powerful enough FSD.
It could be a ridiculous expensive service, available once a week only with limited quota.
You can go there on your own in a cheap, hazardous, lengthily trip.
Or pay buckets of credits and store your ship in the cargo hold of a massive ship, accounting for time of departure, quotas and a cooldown to spawn in Colonia.

I am talking crap, this is not going to happen. Just humoring the thread.

I'd like wormholes.

But no, not convenient fast travel wormholes.
Hazardous RNG exit wormholes that are 1 way, but pay very well if you scan the entry and exit point. But you won't know the exit system when going in.
Manual flight required for the jump through the wormhole.

But no, no actual fast travel please.

The great thing is though you can travel back in about 35 seconds

why do players want to destroy the reason why certain things are good?

Colonia is only a thing because it's super far away and takes a long time to get there.

A fast travel to it defeats the entire point of it's existence. So no. This would be the stupidest thing anyone could possibly do to Colonia since it's founding member's narrative got screwed up by Fdev.

Maybe when meta-frameshift drives are brought in, you could get a misjump, and end up in Colonia in just one go!

Or you could end up somewhere...else.

The reason why Colonia is now being settled by players is because it is a hard journey to complete. There are those that enjoy a challenge and Colonia gives it to them.

Putting in an "I win" shortcut negates their effort, stubbornness and sheer lunacy to up sticks and Jonk their way there.

Same goes for those who have travelled into Beagle point and even the complete nutters who do Hutton Orbital runs. The game offers hard ways to get things done and there seems to be a lot of people who like doing it the hard way.

Oh yes. [yesnod]

Did it (he?)? I thought Jacques disappeared for a while, and then was found in Colonia. Which means it could have been any number of jumps. Though I am not certain of what happened at all, so I may well be wrong. :D

As far as I remember it was supposed to do one big jump to the other side of the galaxy, Beagle´s something. And it malfunctioned and ended in the system, that had a weird name and was renamed Colonia afterward.
I am not deep into the lore, so if anyone wants to clarify, please do so.
