I am curious... Who else here is a dedicated & full-time miner?

I tried some mining the other day. Um... Ok, more accurately, I wanted to try some mining... I kitted out my T-7 with collector limpets (80 tonnes... half my hold... I think I may have overdone it), then took my Asp out with a single mining laser to find a decent site (I wanted to avoid RES completely, and find a pristine metallic ring somewhere to experiment with). Well, long story short, I hunted for the whole evening and never found my mining spot... So I returned and re-kitted my T-7 back to trading.

However, I would actually like to give it a go. And as I also play in Mobius, if you don't mind the company I'd very much like to head out with an experienced miner to learn the ropes. I've a T-9 at the moment, so could either kit that out for mining or exchange it for another ship if that would be better... Is a T-9 any good? :)

Doubt I'll have a proper chance to do this until Sunday evening, but if there are other miners playing in Mobius that don't mind showing me the ropes (and advising what kit to bring), then that would be awesome. I'm CMDR Crank Larson.

i found this today, someones been collecting system maps of pristine rings (metallic, not metal rich.. i was getting that mixed up at 1st lol) hope that helps a little, as long as this thread stays open, any i happen across from now on in i will screenshot and post the images in here.

Thanks for that. Bookmarked.

I'm not a dedicated miner, but I do have a dedicated mining Python, the Miklagard. It's a good mining vessel, and a nice low-pace activity. I usually mine about 100 tons or so, and the space-gypsy from port to port and sell my wares via missions.

Wutthehell?????

Entering Unidentified.
1 ship too far to be scanned, deploying weapons, head to intercept.
6K, ship scanned, wanted, mission target.

Suddenly: 12 to 16 new contacts????
All green.
I near my target, 4K.

As soon as I am to enter firing range... poof, target (Elite Eagle) dead.

Thank you, police.
But like 14'ish police for one Eagle, that looks a wee as overkill, no? o_O

Halfway mission.
If the police would be so kind to not kill more of my targets, I might be done fairly fast.

Hopefully, I'll find me another mission afterwards.
Love them.

The other day i fitted a Conda with the best mining equipment possible, and went to a pristine ring where I found a ton of gold/plat/Painite. I will admit the process of mining is kind of fun. I had a great time doing it, but there was something constantly in the back of my head. I could be making more credits (which i need atm) doing just about any other activity, despite the fact im using the best equipment, and mining the best resource.

So yes its certainly more fun than trading, but its not that great if you need credits fast.

I wouldn't say I'm a dedicated miner, but I keep coming back to it between CGs, raising pilot ranks, trading and exploring.
Over 200MCr in mining profits says I spend more than a little bit of my time mining. ;)

While I'm not a dedicated miner I have made over 4 million from mining. I had a bad experience pre-limpets which put me off for a long while. Was persuaded to try it again with one of the mining CGs and was pleasantly surprised how enjoyable it was . I have been using a Clipper for mining. I'll probably do some more sometime soon.
