I am severely tempted to try out the Type-10 as an exploration ship. What are the Pros and Cons?

BTW, you say this as if the Type-10 is some beautiful work of art. It's a giant iron pancake with a ridiculous spoiler welded to its head. You might as well go exploring in an oil rig, LOL. :p

The Type-7, on the other hand, is the most beautiful brick on the block :D
The spoiler carries utility points, especially useful for point defence, so it has a real function. Wait till we get atmosphere, and you will be wishing you had that spoiler on the elephant butt ship you fly. 😛

I've been running a T10 for the entirety of the Distant Worlds 2 Expedition. Frankly, best choice for great views. Sure, 43ly max (I'm fit for repairs), but ultimately it's a great ship. Landing is easy-peasy if you have an axis override for vertical thrusters.

Ugliest ships in order are Sidewinder, Cobra, Vulture. Type-10 not even top 3.
Really... the sidewinder is probably one of the best ships in game.. you just have to use it more... the cobra as well is an awesome ship.. if you're looking for ugly ships try the whole "T" range

The Cobra has the worst cockpit view in the game. And it's basically just a bigger Sidewinder.

The T class ships are by no means gorgeous, but they are not the worst looking ships. The FAS, FGS, and FDS are the ugliest in the game in my opinion.

Personally, I love the T10. I had to get over the spoiler, BUT, it truly reminds me of the ASPX. It's huge, but that cockpit view is amazing. It has that drift like the ASPX. I sold the one I had a while ago, but I'm thinking about picking another one up. I think I had it up to around 30 ish light years in jump range. I love exploring and anything around 35 and up in jump range is great. You're not jumping crazy light years and missing everything.
Also, it's an amazing ship to multi crew with. It blows the socks off new cmdrs when they sit there and watch you make it thru the mail slot LOL

LOL, one of the reasons I switched to the Type-7 from my original favorites (Dolphin & Orca) is that its interior is one of the least infected by rubbish shadow quality (EBL). That said, even if Frontier someday fixes EBL, I think I'll still fly the Type-7, because it's just wonderful :D

ps - All you people who need guns and point defenses while out exploring are doing it wrong :p

You fool! You've awoken the Boomer Brigade!
LOL, I'm not going to go as far as say they're ugly, but they have never peaked my interest. I actually bought them once when they sold them without rank. I sold them off quickly. Then I bought an FGS last week to do some daka daka with then changed my mind and sold it. Most fun I've had in PVE with a combat ship has been with a Viper MK IV, Vulture, Python, T10 and my Corvette. But for exploration (getting back on track) my ASPX is my FedEx ship when something is going on far away in the black and I need to get there fast. Otherwise, I've used my Kraitsplorer just to change things up. Bottomline, get that big azzed T10 and explore the @!/^! out of it. XD

The best thing for a T10 is when you have VR, it's just impressive to be able to stand up and look. (I got as close as 35ls to SagA)

This is the only reason I have a T-10.. in VR the views are fantastic...
Try standing up in a sidewinder and your head is outside in space  kind of ruins the effect... but at least you can check the ship externally for damage... :ROFLMAO:
