I am currently on my way back to the bubble after a short exploration trip out to a random point of interest. I am roughly 100 jumps away from home and this trip has shown me that while I do love the Anaconda's utility and jump range I am just not the biggest fans of its cockpit for exploration. It just seems confined and claustrophobic. So I was thinking about switching to another ship and obviously in my head I went straight for the Krait Phantom or the Asp because I love the Bubble style cockpits. But everyone uses those to explore and to be honest I find their designs to be a bit boring. And obviously taking cool screenshots of your ship in random places is like half the fun of exploring. So i decided I wanted to take a ship that not many people use. And the Type-10 fits the bill perfectly.
Pros
- Surprisingly despite the fact that the Battle Cow is a massive flying cathedral of steel and death normally it can get 45+ ly jump range with the help of an FSD booster once its stripped down
- Amazing cockpit view
- Unique exploration choice which would make the screenshots I take stand out a bit more than if I used a typical Exploration option like the Asp or Conda
- All the module space I would ever need for everything I would ever want
- I am told that it runs ice cold when engineered properly (If someone could confirm that for me and/or tell me how to achieve that I would appreciate it)
Cons
- 47ly is completely respectable, but is a massive step down from the same set-up on a Conda or a Asp
- It has the turning radius of a small moon while in Supercruise from what I can tell
- Landing it on planets will be.....not the greatest experience of my life.
So does anyone have any thoughts? Additional Pros or Cons that I missed? Have any of you personally tried the Type-10 as an exploration ship?
