Thanks everyone for their support and suggestions, fantastic community, just a little update, as you can see we are almost ready for the journey into the deep, going to hang around my fav res system for a few more days and upgrade my beautiful new Asp Explorer for the trip. Got me some skins too, Apollo Green for combat and the Apollo White for exploration. Safe flying my space faring friends.

enjoy your trip! i put on the white pharaoh paintjob on my exploration Asp "Jia O." yesterday night, and set off into the general direction of the "Liberty Statue Nebula". see you out there!

@Rigmor,
Awesome!

But please do me one favor when you head out. Don't use the white paint job. Everybody seems to do that, including me.

Edit: No offense to folks using white paint jobs, they do look cool.

I was going to say that. I've played this game for over 500 hours in 16 months and I'm still only at just above 100 Million Credits. There is no rush. I know you want that new shiny ship... but once you have the ship you want there is nothing to strive for really. You'll find that the game will play amost exactly the same with an Asp as it does with a Cobra. Sure, you have a few more weapons and bigger jump range, but that only reduces the number of jumps and the time it takes to bring another ship down. That's it. Disappointing? Yup... but that's Elite Dangerous for you. ;)

So, rather than striving for the big credits and the next ship try to enjoy what you have. The game becomes much more fun once you stop chasing the money, trust me on that. You'll get the Asp eventually. ;)

Exactly. That's what I've been doing. I've been in a fully A-kitted Viper for quite a while and I like it a lot. It has some minor power management issues with certain setups, but I took it around 2000LY exploring, have used it to farm Rez's, conflict zones, and some minor trading (not my thing). I find it very versatile, and with just enough toughness that I can almost always get away before I'm smeared. I can take on Pythons fairly easily (as long as I stay out of the way of the front).

The income is meagre some days but it's a lot of fun, and the most I've ever had to pay was 250K to replace it (350K with inf scanner). I'd like a bigger ship some time, but can't really see it adding much, unless I want something that can do 30LY at a time.

The only other ship I had as much fun with was an Eagle, but they are just too squishy, even if they are super cheap to replace.

Just take note, as a cautionary tale, the position and configuration of the canopy windows. Note how the glass and spindly framing extend out in front of the hull..

Keep this in mind whenever you are about to crash, or just drift a Bit too much towards that cliff... Belly flop. BELLY FLOP! never NoseDive.

This concludes this pilot service announcement. :)

Elite Dangerous, a brilliant game, beautiful, huge, everyone has a dream, mine is to be able to buy an Asp Explorer, fit it and go explore the Galaxy. However I have this issue, I am completely crap at making credits. Don't ask me why, but I have now tried for about a couple of weeks now, first trade. Checked out a few youtube vids, started making some credits, but could never live long enough due to over interdictions (I dont want to cheat) I lost everything and my trading came to an abrupt sorry end.

Then I got wind of resource sites, but again, I keep getting a wanted tag. Ok I thought maybe I shot someone by accident, but then I realized I wasn't making mistakes, clearly the targets was wanted. I checked, the police were even shooting at the same target, I shot it - wanted tag, BOOM. No credits. I am tired of having to move all the time, it's now becoming no fun.

So I am at a loss, not only in credits, I have 2.5 million, but now I am just losing all inspiration to actually boot this game up, after another CTD, another interdiction, another wanted tag. I know it's early days, but please, someone, surely, there MUST be a way to make some stable credits, is it just me? I have literally spent this week solely on resource sites to make credits, but it is now becoming seemingly impossible, is the game meant to be this hard for amateur pilots? or is it down to game breaking bugs, come on, if the police are shooting the guys, how are you supposed to know who you can or can't kill?

After everything I have been through this last week, if there were credits for sale in the shop, I would buy them in a heartbeat. I want to play, I really do, I want to explore but the way this game is designed seems it wants to punish you at every single thing you try to do. I want to have fun, not feel angry, frustrated. So...any advice, or tips would be hugely welcome.

Have you considered smuggling? I've made a ton of credits going to the famous Robigo outpost that provides 2-9 million credit missions. It can be a little though, but it's extremely rewarding once you turn them in. Try using an ASP explorer, or Scout if possible for it.

Thank's so much guys for all your help and suggestions, wow, if 2.5 mill is okish i must be doing something right, didn't know about the hazardous res sites didnt need the KWS, could be the issue, i had no kws. I do use gimballed, so that might be an issue, been flying an Eagle and loving it as a BH ship, thanks guys also for the trade and exploration tips, links and support. repped you all

Too many misinformation :
1. You do not need a kws to legally bounty hunt anyone else wanted

2. Firendly fire is allowed as long as you are allied with the system's authority ships and you are not targetting their ships while your shots hit them

I suggest slave trade! For the money you have you can fit a T6, it is possible to make around 2500 - 3000 profit per ton one way trip, which is around 250 000 CR per trip in a T6, you can find a route doable in 15 minutes no problem, therefore you can earn a million per hour no problem. Just be sure to fit shields and have your escapes drilled to perfections: always submit to intredictions, boost away while spinning like crazy, and FSD out! If you wanted help with a specific trade route, PM me and I will help.
