I combat logged a duck last night.

Should we just hand you a button so you can ban whoever you think doesn't play the game in the approved way?
Works well enough for the forums.
Ignore list is pretty full at the moment and I see very little reason or have any desire to randomly meet those players in the game.
It's a pity that I haven't randomly met some of the commanders who seem to share my views of gameplay in open - or even Mr. Fang.

I don't have an ignore list, but that doesn't really mean much. If I don't like someone enough I'd rather be a pain in their butt then ignore them, and if I just kinda don't like them then they're not worth the effort to fiddle with menus.

Yeah, I've never run across fang either. Not really sure why as I would think there should have been plenty of crossover. *shrugs*

I don't really agree with you in part where you say combat logging via the menu is only unacceptable in the situations you describe.

Its frankly asinine and a complete cop out from Sandro to suggest that menu logging is 'exiting the game gracefully' given the time bar to doing so is set lower than a flea's limbo dance competition.

If leaving the game in combat via the menu was set at a reasonable time then I doubt anyone would have any complaints about 'menu logging'.. But at 15 seconds folks just may as well pull the plug. One minute would be a far more reasonable timeframe to 'exit gracefully'.

My only conclusion given the present 15 seconds debacle is that Frontier simply aren't that interested in tackling combat logging since the laughable 15 second timer may just as well be instant at this stage. [blah]

You do have a point, but, what will happen is that the human way shall decide that your one minute is quite unacceptable to masses, and actually combat logging will become more rife. People use the 'graceful' exit because it's doable, and 15 seconds is reasonable to them. If you make it one minute, then you'll just see greater numbers just crashing the process because it's easier, faster, and safer. You'll get comments like.. If I want to exit the game I want to exit. The game is not my master, therefore it will exit when I WANT IT TO!

I can hear it now! :)

Whenever a CMDR combat logs or exits to menu in a combat situation, the game should have the CMDR eject from his ship and be left as cargo for the other CMDR to pick and sell as a commodity (Filthy Combat Logger).

The combat loggers, upon returning, will find themselves in the station where they have been sold, in a Sidewinder with money deducted from their account (based on how much it was sold in market).

The combat logger cannot return to the game if he is still considered as cargo, with a time limit of course to avoid abuse from CMDRs keeping the CL in their hold.

But only if the "psycho killer" who attacked him gets a nice padded cell on Mars. Right next to my slightly odd red headed stepbrother Hannibal Kay. If he's not actually psychotic by the time he gets in, he definitely is a shambling wreck after spending 40 years next to Hannie. :p
You don't really believe an organization that is powerful enough to assasinate an Emperor of the Empire would tolerate some numpties prancing around and drawing public attention to an inherently flawed law enforcement system, do you?

Haha, let us all just call FDev from now on 'The Organization' to give everything a mysterious vibe :D

Of course, another solution should be implemented to deal with griefers that force "weak" CMDRs (explorers, traders) to combat log.

Not had time to read the last 14 pages or so, but...has the OP been shadowbanned yet?

Surely, given that this is a direct admission of combat logging, it's the most clear-cut case FD will ever have?

I don't think combat logging as such is "forced", but part of my "PvE Flag / Ignore list" suggestion tries to adress the simple fact that ED is a computer game and passtime activity that everyone plays for their enjoyment, whatever it may be.
And being "encouraged" to play in open with the prospect of "social activity" and then confronted with the "harsh reality" that you might lack the basic skills to avoid unwanted advances causes all kind of "unenjoyable moments" up to the point where that player simply doesn't care about the game or it's rules.
Game broke it's "contract" of providing enjoyment - game can get lost.

No, I think that was... Actually I probably can't name them.... another person... something to do with european conflicts and such... dude went on diatribes about his proud and determined combat logging on reddit...

You'll be surprised at how often the game "crashes", check out /r/EliteCombatLoggers/ if you don't believe me,

Fdev needs to fix this, we can't have all these CMDR's game crashing like this, Software this unstable needs to be fixed ASAP! #MakeEliteStableAgain :D

its funny how someone game's always crash when in combat vs another player. What a coincidance!
