I do not think the War is over.

I think their Queen will be really "unhappy" and pay us a visit herself in a Vessel three times the Size of a Titan.
Or... the Queen ordered all those Humans cached to study them and return the Favor of a deadly Virus/Fungus/Whateverus that will make some of our most ancient worlds unlivable. Thus the Expansion allowance for Commanders in future updates.

I don't know... but i feel it is not yet over.

I think we're approaching the epilogue of the Thargoid narrative arc. Earth will probably get trashed when Cocijo blows up, giving an impetus to player colonisation. Maybe there'll be Thargoid raids on the bubble and/or player colonies in the near to medium future, but nothing on the scale of the Stargoid invasion.

We've been fighting entirely the wrong damn war this entire time. The Constructs are the real threat. They wiped out the Guardians after the Thargoids lost the Guardian-Thargoid war. I think it's likely that they're still lurking around somewhere, and that we'll have additional reasons to curse the name of Caleb Wycherly.

Humans just see what's in front of their noses. What makes you think they care about a potential elusive threat in the form of a digitized "Salvation"(Damnation) riling up Guardian AI (which despise violence amidst a species' members above all, I would bet) when there are eight Titans rampaging in the Bubble, killing and abducting people? Even though we invited them in the door to do so with the Proteus Wave and never tried figuring out if they had any additional motives to attack the Bubble, just "Grab a gun and Do Your Part".

Though I agree that the mainline focus on the Thargoids and their story is probably reaching its end, I would disagree that the Thargoid narrative is over soon/reaching its end, due to a recent finding that was made. They might still get a more persistent presence even if it's not as stubborn as eight Titans was.

Yes, I didn't mean to imply that we'd stop hearing about the Thargoids at all. There's a lot of related gameplay that would be a shame to see disappear completely. I'm hopeful that some kind of narrative justification will be cooked up to keep it around somehow.

In space invader games they come in waves of increasing difficulty until you can no longer keep up.

Doesn't that image show thargoids and humans almost holding hands ?
