I give up on distress calls.

They should be called bandit calls.

The last three, whole days of playing, the one distress call where there were no enemies, i fixed him up, he said nothing then he left. Not dropping a single thing.

So completely and utterly SICK of having enemies on me for EVERY. SINGLE. LITTLE. THING. I. DO. And no, im not wanted anywhere.

Theres a bandit for every being in this game and i am about to lose it! [mad]

You kill one, another one shows... and another one and another one and another one.

99% of the distress signals i have gone to lately have been ambushes and i cant even...

COMBAT! COMBAT! COMBAT! YAY! YOU LOVE COMBAT DONT YOU!!? HERES SOME MORE! AND THEN MORE AND THEN EVEN MORE!!! YOU LOVE IT RIGHT!
Well, WE GOT MORE! NOW BE HAPPY! [mad]

A fun mission gig, too bad FD ruins it with tacking combat on EVERYTHING. 99% of the time. Great.

Im angry.

Wait for Chapter 4, the Distress Calls are actually distress calls, where you can actually help. There are also other scenarios.

You're complaining about it just as it's already changed in beta. Wait for Chapter 4.

And I disagree, there is very little danger in the game. You can avoid all combat. It's very boring.

I avoid distress calls for the same reason. It was obvious 99.9% of them are a trap. Sorry, 0.1% guy. Also, I don't regularly carry fuel limpet controllers and limpets on the off chance I run into one.

Oddly enough, whenever I drop into a threat 0 Distress Call in Rescue Zero I find a ship in need of fuel. If I drop into a threat 1-3 I find a ship in need of fuel and some NPC’s to blow up. Threat 4 I may or may not find a ship in need, but I find NPC’s. And Threat 5 I’ve found cap ships slugging it out with each other, and wind up routing one of them.

I can only imagine the conversations:

”You were blown up/driven off by a what?!”
”An Orca, sir.”
”An Orca? You do know those are pleasure cruisers, right?”
”Yes, but this one took pleasure in cruising right through us, sir.”

Well...... now I don't feel so guilty about ignoring distress calls.

I always jump in looking for a fight. Whenever it's just a lonely sap asking for fuel I feel terrible for not having fuel limpets.
"Could you please spare me some fuel?"
"Err... no."
Jumps away.
Awful.

This was posted back in 2015 when Distress Calls were first implemented, and sums up the attitude to "distress calls" most players have historically had, ever since.

Hopefully, with the revamp in 3.3, distress calls will become much more like Star Trek and less like Mad Max. Especially if theyr'e going to be persistent POIs that actually allow us to go away and come back with help - and then actually reward us for helping with (a) interesting and relevant dialogue, and (b) provide an actual benefit, in terms of credits, or BGS influence, or whatever.

*Starts firing PAs at the ship*

Ship:What are you doing?!

Me:Its okay I have Plasma Slug! Stay there and get fueled.

First of all, distress calls with combat makes sense. I know it isn't what some of us wants to do, but I usually expect someone attacking innocents. They have to be better designed though for sure.

In 3.3 they have gotten serious overhaul. There are still all types of distress calls - fuel, food (in famine system), also protection. They are voiced and they have better explained consequences. They also give time to get food or fuel, so you can actually go to station, get what you need, and get back to help NPC.

Some pirates are lazy. Why chase after targets and play the interdiction and wake minigame? Just lure them to you. :)

Sometimes it's players having issues. Bugs can be maddening.

There's always threat level indicator at the bottom of USS description. If it's not 0 (zero), then you can bet it's going to be combat.

I'm happy to hear that in Chapter 4 it's going to be more interesting.

Why can't you just drop a tin of hydrogen to a ship for refueling?

I never understood the reason for fuel limpets apart from the pain in the derrière to fit out for them.

Have you tried it?

Does the voice acting recognise that you already went there before, or does it just reset?

It would be nice if it had a "Thank for coming back! I thought you'd left me out here!" bit, for if you leave and come back.

Also, there should be an option for "I'll be back as soon as I can" as opposed to I'll help or I wont help.

I stopped at one and it was a ship that needed fuel but I didn't have any. Who (besides Fuel Rats) just carries around fuel?

That's what I think.
It's an interesting gameplay to rescue ships without fuel or damaged, but I have no slots to waste with various limpet for the remote possibility of meeting a ship that needs it.
They should introduce missions of this type, which then direct you to ships without fuel or damaged, so it makes sense to equip the ship with certain limpet controllers.
