I Goofed!

How does that work if you get dropped out of SC by hitting the exclusion zone?
If you are trying to re-enter SC from near the xz, you still need to point at the escape vector, don't you?

Any time you enter SC, you need to align the ship so it's pointing in the direction you are moving. If you have vertical or lateral thrusters engaged for example, you get the align with trajectory message until you are moving in a straight line.
If you're getting whipped around in the jet cone vortex, I imagine it's quite difficult to move in a straight line.

...Below 70% will again malfunction but there is a small chance to drop you out of SC too for good measure...

That is extremely helpful.

I didn't see the Align with Trajectory message or the Escape Vector cross-hairs in the video. I think if that were the case, then everyone would splode in the jet cones.

To be honest Cmdr you have two choices:

1. Turn around head back to a friendly port.
2. Continue and get stranded with a FSD.

I personally would take option 1.

Sorry to hear of your predicament. Take it as a learning curve thing.

Oh, I didn't know reboot repairs a system at the expense of another one. Makes sense really as you're not bringing in any additional resources.

if you get yourself into the exclusion zone then you will need an escape vector to SC or align to target message for high wake, but to be honest.... how you end up in the exclusion zone is another problem entirely and you should never put yourself into that situation

but... if you do find yourself in the exclusion zone, this is where your boost comes into play and again its very easy to escape if you didn't skimp on your ship at outfitting, those with 1D power distributors may as well get a cup of tea and come back to the rebuy screen though

boosting your ship will get you in the right direction,

tap the charge FSD and find your exit,
position your ship in the rough direction of the escape point, (yes it throws you about but you can still turn unless you chose those undersized thrusters :) DDs helps here on D-class ones)
charge the FSD & nearing the countdown boost like mad, the more boosts you can get out of a ship in quick succession the better your chance of leaving the cone.
Your ship will start travelling straight and the red numbers of success will start counting down

so next time your in the outfitting screen thinking yeah I can get one boost out of a 2D PD so that will do.....

I can make a video guide of such if you're interested

Again, extremely helpful! Whooda thunk neutron stars could be so complicated?

Never! I'll take my chances.
