I had gone to the shop for five minutes.

Get back home, open the door... Oh no, the door is locked.

I'd left my keys inside!

So begun me walking around town like a vagrant for the afternoon. RIP

I locked myself out of my flat once a few years back and discovered that, in the uk at least, non-destructive locksmiths aren't actually that expensive... Turns out you can hire someone to come to your house with a set of tools for doing things like sticking a pole with a hook on the end through your letter box to turn the latch, or using a square of plastic to do the credit card trick without risking losing something important.

Obviously if leaving a spare set of keys with someone is an option then that may be a better, more convenient solution, but it was reasuring to know that making that mistake isn't necessarily the end of the world.
