I hate Elite Dangerous

So, I explored the Coalsack, 500ly out and back again. I explored, scanned, over 75 star systems, and mean FULL detailed surface scans.

I returned to Founders World... and the station blew me up. when I got my ship back.

ALL THE EXPLORATION DATA WAS GONE.

Bloody Elite Dangerous I hate you.

It's ok, it was probably not worth that much anyways.

Just go trade some rare-goods now :(

But yeah, that's a pretty big rage-quit moment right there!

Dude, I was getting 10k for systems with just 6 objects to scan... and 50k+ for systems with more than 40 objects. All together I had about 1.8 million credits. Not to mention the 40 hours I put into this... I can complete most other games from beginning to end in 40 hours.

I actually have no idea, when I left the station I had no fines or anything, I docked and they blew me up. I have no freaking idea why. My docking request was accepted and my cargo was empty.

Scatach that... I have a 300cr fine...

300 credits

300 CREDITS!

I was killed, lost 1.8 million credits for...

a 300 credit fine... what the actual hell.

Right I'm going to be a pirate now, and I'm starting by murdering as many local authority ships as I can.

Well, that's quite a lot of time invested, but as I said, if you were doing it for money then you should just go and trade some rare goods now. You'll make millions so fast you'll never use another discovery scanner again.

Most of the why is elite dangerous so dangerous threads I laugh at, but Ill admit, I actually kind of almost feel sorry for you.

Brutal.

How do you think I afforded the Advanced System Scanner in the first place? Those things are 1.6 million credits. But there's only so many times I can trade between station A and Station B.

No, I don't actually know why I have that fine at all. 300 credit's is a weird fine, if I hit an authority ship while fighting it's usually 190 or 225 credits. I don't know what the 300 credit fine was for.

Do you get explorer rankings as you scan or is it only when you sell data?

By selling.

I took a trip out to a few nebulae. Spent about 22 hours travelling and scanning, covering around 3,500 light years. I stayed scout during that, but on selling the data when I got back, I zoomed up to Trailblazer.

I've heard reports of people levelling it while scanning, so there is probably a component based on "number of systems visited" too

Happened to me on a beginner scale. Lost about 30 systems of data due to pilot error. Must be extra careful, it's a dangerous world. But I would hope my life pod included a black box to save my data.
I'm averaging around 8k per system, between 800 and 12k all around. Had a nice 21k system once. I just made Surveyor

It's not about the money though.

Don't ever dock at a station when you have fines... dock at outposts. They don't shoot you.

This is good advice. I usually go one step further, and go to a system controlled by another faction entirely. Local independent systems are great for that, they don't care what you've done in the major empires, and everywhere is safe.

I thought tickets were for bugs? If you have a bounty and you are destroyed by an NPC, that would be working as intended, not a bug.

Getting killed by stations for a bounty of 300 credits is hopefully not really working as intended.

It's like getting a speeding ticket in real life, failing to pay it within 24 hours and becoming a shoot-on-sight target for every policeman and the military.

Because the game cheats. It has a bad habit of adding to the posted fines when you go to pay them. If you look at your right side MFD, it will clearly show 200cr, but when you go to actually pay it, it's 300cr.

It does the same thing with bounties, only in reverse. I had a 34k bounty for killing a ship that interdicted and attacked me, but when I landed right after killing it, the station would only pay me 28k.
