I hate to say it, but I'm actually finding the Apex taxi to be useful.

Sometimes it's nice to shuttle back and forth between my ship depots on autopilot.

Anyone take one to Colonia yet? Do you have to wait three days? LOL

I'm thinking about keeping a set of ships there and some in the bubble. Duplicate builds.

Interesting quandry there - a lack of middle ground. Nearby missions tick the make a cup of tea box, but Colonia's too far for leave it to it whilst I go down to the pub and end up having five more pints than I intended.
Too true. In the time it takes to ferry a ship there (due, to a lack of expedited services), I can head down to the bar, drink five pints too many, recover from a miserable next day and I'm still waiting for the blasted thing. So, unless they have a copy of Elite that I can play on a 72 hour journey? I'm out ;P

Is it even possible? I thought there was a distance limit.

I haven't flown my own ship in about a week. I've been taking the taxi everywhere just to see what life as a space cowboy is like. I don't mind it at all and I've not had it do anything unexpected once. The only real annoyance I've experienced is not having big enough pockets and having to keep calling the taxi to fill up. Once it wasn't able to land in the area (I'd had to make a quick escape from some upset locals) due to it being too rocky and aborted.

As far as I remember, even the "long range" Apex has some maximum range - 50Ly per trip, if I'm not mistaken.
So pity but can't get to Colonia, even calling Apex in the middle of nowhere - cause it still requires Apex facility as a target.
Which is a shame, really, I bet there would be that one maniac who would travel all the way to Colonia, using 50Ly legs along the way. I would watch that ;-)

I think it's 100 ly, if I'm not mistaken. Just enough that you can't do the engineer unlock requirements in one flight, since you probably won't find a destination that's exactly 100 ly, instead of 99.9xx or something. ;)
