I have found Jaques Station!

I don't know if this has been posted already, but Jaques is orbiting a planet which has Pristine Metallic Reserve rings.

Does Jaques sell limpets?

'Cos I really hesitate to go back to the days of manually scooping each chunk, though that would make for an interesting twist on a mining CG! :D
Players with anacondas might also be able to cart in limpets in bulk and sell them to miners for metals which they then put towards the CG...

Hmm... except fully laden 'condas have pretty bad jump range... there might be a better ship for long-range cargo transport. Asp has great range even fully loaded, but doesn't carry as much.

Totally agree. I've added this to the Quality of Life changes needed for miners suggestion thread.

I would like limpet bays and each bay can only store as many as the limpet controllers do now but you can recall them. You could add synthesis to repair and refuel them from materials gained from mining too. They would kind of like SRV/ship launched fighters. Also should make them slightly tougher and larger and take up more weight on the ship.

npcs might drop limits when blown up, miners and combat pilots might need to co operate to acquiore limits out there, i would like to see them drop as loot on planets though

I'll do you one better so FDev can screw up any plot they want after forgetting what that plot is. It has often been written in ED lore that hyperspace opens up to parallel dimensions. We were actually hearing from Alter-Jaques earlier.

There, now anything interesting that was previously written regarding hyperspace can be retconned to be parallel dimensional versions of characters/ships/etc.

I'd buy this all-encompassing out; it's SF-flavoured, allows for weird anomalous events ingame, and forgives production errors outgame. The galaxy could stand a bit more weird.

Is anyone involved in powerplay planning on doing something whacky with jacques ? like putting it in a powerplay sphere, the costs alone would be astronomical though

Personally i think its not so smart but no doubt someone will consider it

Arrived at Jaques earlier tonight. A long trip to cover in 30 hours. After getting news of his discovery i gathered a few essentials to investigate.
Mension of the UA damage and still listed as a damaged station MA's are being collected and en-route to hopefully fix Jaques.

more pilots are underway and should arrive sooner or later, with luck reduce the demand to 0 , oddity, was 326 when i arrived, fell to 320, increased to 325, sold 1 more MA , now 324. will keep check on this over next day or two...

JAQUES LOCAL NEWS. adds a nice story to what Jaques has been doing, i snipped them together on one pic.

Might head out there this weekend. The Crab Nebula Expedition isn't turning out the way I hoped anyway. Last night someone was chasing my SRV and shooting at me with Beam lasers. The polite thing would've been to ask first.

It'll take me at least three hours to get back to the bubble from Monkey Head tonight, probably a lot longer if I have to negotiate the Permit Wall (which I swear is growing) and I'll swing by Maia to pick up some meta alloys. If I sell all my ships I'll probably have a couple of hundred million to build some sort of long-range miner/trader with defensive/combat capabilities: any suggestions?

Well that's tonight to get back, tomorrow to outfit a ship and visit all the engineers for improvements, so hopefully I can set out on Sunday.

So Jaques is doubling back on his story now? At first he was talking about how he was both nowhere and everywhere (according to the local news at his station), like he had no control over where the station was going. And now, according to this: https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/uid/5774e64f9657ba3d668a023a well... I'm reading it as he did have control after all and decided to drop out.... cover up, FD story flub, or are my thoughts getting away from me?

The other thing that I've not seen mentioned anywhere is the very existence of witch-space. Maybe my memory's gone funny but I could've sworn DB/MB said no witch-space in ED.

Have I got that wrong?

Dunno, but if not witch-space, where are we when we jump? Even jumping to the nearest star, i seem to be flying between plenty of nebulas that are most definitely *not* between me and my destination.

I've no idea where we go, an 'other' space is a fine explanation. It's just that there's been some lore changes recently and I'm wondering whether re-introducing the concept of witch-space is a part of that. If it is it's not important (to me anyway) just worth noting.

My understanding is the player ships do not use witch space. However the large capital ships and Jaque do use witch space, hence the incidents they have had with UAs.

Not sure how that helps us tho as we have no ships that can access witch space...

are there any barnacle hunters in the nearby nebula, or those planning on doing that particular aspect of the search and investigation ??

I can confirm that there are a very small scale of players thats searching both planets in the system and systems close to Jaques. Also if i remeamber right, there are players on their way to help

Need some advice, I'm planning on making the trip to Jaques station using my Asp Explorer, I have a 3A fuel scoop installed, would it be worth installing a refinery and mining laser?, the only optional internal I can replace safely is the detailed surface scanner.

That would be a harsh decision for sure. Also, you can't expect any restock anytime soon, so it'll be limpless scooping for you (after you've used your carried ones, but - are you really going >20kly with your cargo bays full of limpets?) for quite a while at least, which alone wouldn't stop me btw. Somehow I'm glad to be currently involved in SEPP support, so I can postpone these uncomfortable decisions. ;)

I won't be carrying limpets, and I've only 64T cargo space which will be empty for the trip, I'm thinking the refinery and mining laser will be useful for refilling the AFMU, though I could go planet side with the SRV, but that would add considerable time to the journey.

Yes, get a mining laser, refinery and limpet controller(s).
DO NOT drop your DSS. You need it to find Pristine Metallic Rings to mine.
I would swap out the AFMU. You shouldn't REALLY need it unless you get attacked, and by the time you get there, Jaques may well have repair facilities.
This loadout will even let you do some bounty hunting while you're out there:

I'm heading there with 320 limpets to help out deep space Fuel Rats and miners. I hope to be there Sunday at the latest.
