I just changed from a T9 to a T10. Should I go back again

Well, both of my T9s have got 7As.

I was just wondering if it's worth the effort of schlepping across to Donar's Oak, buying another set, and then going back to Palin's to get them modded.

My inner min/maxer is telling me to do it but I'm not sure if there's any real point. :p

I edited my post above, the T9 needs 7A's due to the increased payload, the game won't allow you to fit 7D's unless you reduce cargo capacity. Mod them after the upgrade goes live, so you can take advantage of the strip down thruster mod.

A proper multi purpose T-10 build has the same issue once you put military hull and other toys in the ship, too heavy for 7D

As a side note, the T9 is almost too heavy for 7A, so I think the Devs had no choice but to adjust hull mass.

The cutter runs class 8 thrusters for a reason

Hey, I value my customers and I take the best possible care of their stuff.

Besides, I'm only taking Rinzler's philosophy for "trading in Open" and dialing it up to 11. :p

*EDIT*

While I'm at it, is there any point in modding the thrusters on a Trader T9?

I've just bought another one so I have one for cargo and one for mining.
I am going to get one set of 7A DD5s for the mining ship, just to help with agility, and I thought I could get another set modded at the same time for the trader but, thinking about it, I'm not sure there's any point.
I mean, increasing speed from "glacial" to "snail-like" isn't really going to make much difference to anything, is it?

Moar speed can never be a bad thing, especially if it's armed and intends to fight back in any way. You'd be surprised the improvement you'll get and even if you cannot control range, it'll stop you being a total dumpling. Add a little FA Off practice in there and...well, let's just remind viewers at home that the T9/T10 have now been used for a number of PvP videos.

To make a couple of recommendations I would advise you swap out the loadout for something both more simple and capacitor efficient. C3 beams and a single C2 PA are a real no-no unless you only have sights on the opponent for a short moment once in a while (and then it's your piloting skill that needs to improve, not your ship). I would advise swapping all the above for long range pulse lazors, re-rolled for either reduced distributor draw and/or higher damage. As the T10 cannot use cannons effectively due to its low agility, I also recommend compounding its cannons/MCs into all multicannons.

You could probably get away with A-rating your sensors and life support. The T-10 won't care for a few T extra mass or dribbles of power use (low class sensors/LS), and it means around three and a half times the oxygen supply if your canopy gets shot out, and increased sensor performance/integrity. You could also exchange a HRP for an MRP.

Ofc if you want to continue to blaze your trail in style, you do it.

Oddly enough, my Trade Cutter happily runs 7A thrusters too, although it isn't an especially heavy build.
Interesting to see that FDev might've painted themselves into a corner by increasing the T9's cargo capacity but not be able to increase the thruster class.
In a sadistic sort of way, I actually kind of like that you can create a build which isn't viable.

Ah, what the hell.
I'll get the 2nd set of DD5s built. If I feel like they're wasted on the T9 I can always bung 'em on one of my Annie's.

I guess tonight's plan will be to stop off at wherever I left my Cutter, buy another load of Emergency Power Cells, head over to the Pleiades and start monkeying around with thrusters.

On that note, does anybody know if Donar's Oak has been attacked or not?
It's the local "Thruster Mart".
If that gets attacked it's going to make getting G5 thrusters modded much more awkward.

... and, I hope nobody from FDev realises that. [where is it]

Yes jump range has increased due to the hull adjustment, away from home at the moment,my freight build was around 36ly unladen, in the 20's hauling 700 plus tonnes, engineered.

@anubis, it is virtually impossible to lose an interdiction in this game now, no idea why you would think it is impossible to win an interdiction in a T9, I can't rrmeber the last time I lost one.

Maybe that's because you're a damn fine pilot!

I have to admit that I occasionally lose an interdiction or two.

Ha, thanks, unlikely though :) probably just various techniques used, I find the yaw axis is the primary axis for getting out of trouble in a heavy ship, lead the escape vector and let it come to you.

I guess that is the problem with AI, once you find a method to deal with them things get very predictable.

I also use pedals, so maybe that helps.

I see the T10 as a good fighter platform and general all round scavenging ship. Really good ship for hanging round the aliens. Or as back up in a haz Rez while using the fighter. I’m keeping my T9 for mining and hauling for the rebuilding effort and gathering cash for a A rated T10 to mod when the beyond comes out. Depends though on when the gameplay relating to the thorgiods starts and the changes to exploration.... perhaps I’ll hang on for awhile before getting the T10, filling the drop ship with meta alloys is pushing my tolerance levels atm.

Btw I just clocked that the non-Human SS sometimes contains a probe. Happy days i’ll Be thieving them tonight. 😋
