I just found out that I'm colour-blind....

You mean Gold and White....

No it's blue and black :D

Anyway FD can easily fix this problem very easily, via any of these 2 methods:

1. Make it "Vibrant Blue" as advertised
2. Rename the colour to "Mind-bogglingly brilliant White"

Either of these would fix the problem immediately.

Don't pester Frontier about this too much or they might make a beige and you'd loose it for ever on on the first planet you landed on. ;)

if someone wants a technical explanation for the "Blue / Imperial" paintjob.. take a look at this article that explains how you perceive colours

That article works for the dress. The ship is probably a little more mundane, an artifact in the renderer that is causing light/colour values to be added together, if you add enough colours everything just becomes white.
