I just sold my Cobra.

Just spent the evening and well into the morning starting to kit out a Challenger as a miner. And wow, this is a fantastic ship! Just a few more slots - say bump one of the 3's to a four, and and in a one or two, and it would be perfect.

Still though, awesome ship.

No joke.

I just decided to give the two new ships a go.

Krait was a bit meh for me... But the challenger?

It does everything I wanted from the Cobra Mk III and more.

I said that the problem I had with the Chieftain was it had one too few optional slot for me.

The Challenger has the six I wanted.

The Challenger also really accomodates a crew member, with great mountings for a turret, and also, I've fitted a seeker rack on the chin.

I genuinely prefert this brig. I'm very happy.

Got there by a very different road than yerself but like yerself, the krait while all very nice n all just didnt get my juices going so I bought the challenger instead to possibly replace or compliment the chief.

Have now stripped the chief fer parts...as in totally ripped her guts out to the point where its now non useful, but aint sold it yet...my notoriety on 7 so it does make things a tad more pointless until I get that down again. The chief will be sold...cos the challenger is a very very sweet ride indeed...and the engine/boost sounds are some the best Ive heard from any ship. Handling is a lot better than the chief which could be almost too fast at times...the challenger feels more solid, more confident almost.

I see the current noise about the krait and have to admit, Im sorta glad I aint the only one who went with the challenger. Those who aint even looked at this ship yet because of their rush to try out the krait...yer missing out on a real gem of a ship in the challenger. Its limited edition ^

Selling my Cobra Mk III? Nevah! It's going to stay with me for as long as the game lasts, even if it sits and looks pretty in a hangar much of the time. It's been with me since Kickstarter (advanced start option: upgraded Cobra Mk III).

I don't use telepresence, so the Krait is a nonstarter.

You know that the fighter bay is not mandatory right?

I don't do telepresence either, and I'm very satisfied with my armed trader/multirole Krait, with cargo racks instead of fighter bay. There are no restricted module slots.

:)

Pity you can't have a Cobra docked on the Challenger as a large fighter :p
I bought a Challenger to muck around with for 30 mins or so - gives too much of a "big" ship vibe for me - but I do like the engines on the tail - certainly the best looking of it's varient - might return to it when the ship kits come along.
Krait has replaced the Fed Corvette for me, gives me something I can train a fighter pilot in and have fitted it for bumping off Thargoids and any Xeno friendly commanders who try to get in my way. - wish I could put midnight black on it - it needs to be black
Python has donated some modules temporarily to the Krait - but engineering up replacements this afternoon, Cobra 3 and 4 and the Imp Eagle are still kept for fun and misc duties (Cobra 4 is a fine miner when the mood takes me)

Actually I'd wondered if OP was going to cave in eventually. It must be hard to convince oneself to stick to the cobra with so many new ships having arrived in the past year. But yeah, rash to sell the cobra if one could already afford the challenger.

If I understand it correctly, the windscreen on the challenge is even bigger due to the over all size of it being bigger than the windscreen on the Chieftain. The Chieftains windscreen issue is the reason I switched back to my FAS.

Give in to the Pokemon Effect, Uni. It's only pretend monies, and having a fleet is like Jay Leno's car garage museum. I still have my original Sidewinder from 2014. :D

That must be nice, I lost mine very early on when I got lost in space so I decided to ram a planet to respawn at a station. Something that took a lot longer than it should have, in retrospect xD.

Were you thrown in the brig, for being a prefert?!? :)

I really like the Challenger too!

I like my multi-role Python.

I'm warming to the Krait a little more slowly than the Challenger, but I think I'll like it too eventually.

You know what? I didn't play any of the earlier Elite games before picking this one up, and even so, I can tell, and feel a bit for the ship along those lines anyway. A classic is a classic, is a classic, I guess. :)

Cobra is a part of furniture in the series Elite, as Tj in the forums

:D
