I just wanna say Thank you

I just wanna say Thank you guy who almost 10 minutes ago destroy my Explorer in Gateway system, after 4 month journey around galactic... Even when i beg him on chat, he just shoot me... after all i can only delete my game. I can't play this anymore after this, 4 month of live destroy one angry kid. Thank you sir, happy new year!

Join a pve group like Mobius, this then wouldnt happen. Anyone who would shoot a defenceless explorer is pathetic.

It's unfortunate for the OP to suffer such a loss. However, there are so many tools and methods to prevent exactly what happened. A little research can prevent a lot of misfortune.
Learn from your mistake, dust yourself off and get back on the horse.

Solo play.
Please go and finish your hangover time cmdr. Don't go solo, don't go mobius because you will loose your edge.
You either want to be good or a cat in mobius.

----
OP - 4 months... How much is that in money? Because this game is mostly about money.
Contact us - check the signature. Also PM the name of this commander, he will be found and removed.

No, I never play solo, I was offering advice to the explorer on how to maximise his chances of survival on the final leg of his journey.

Sorry OP, perhaps it's worth contacting support to see if they can help?

If they can't, you can tell them how thrilled you are with their non-existent crime and punishment system.

Happy New Year!
Why should support help here? They're not some kind of mulligan, get-out-of-jail-free credit dispensing system.

Solo mode is there for when you aren't on your HOTAS, or when you're on the 4th shot of 151, or when you're returning with 4 months of exploration data, especially considering that, even if you did build your explorer to be a warship, you will be down on integrity and likely hull damage from all those binaries.

It can be called cowardice. It can also be called minimizing risk, and something ambush players like pirates and griefers try to do all the time in order to maximize results. You have the tools available to you to avoid confrontations, you need to use them intelligently.

I must ask, because I require information: What exactly is the benefit of exploring while in open? Chance encounters with other players, and the thrill of not knowing if they will turn out to be a complete hooplehead?

I have hard time to comprehend you guys who do not comprehend why OP was so uppset about this. Not many of us who wouldn't ragequit if months of playingtime was vanished in an instant.

It's a devastating blow to be sure, but it was completely avoidable with a little forward thinking. I play open because I enjoy combat and when I'm interdicted, I submit, deploy weapons and start shooting, but that's because I'm flying a combat fitted Vulture. If I decided to do months of exploration, you can bet your ass I would be docking in solo mode at the end of it all.

I think the answer here is that exploration data should go with the commander on ejection.

After all, a bunch of collected resources inexplicably do.So I don't see why a hard drive wouldn't be built into the micro jumping ejector seat to recover exploration data.

Never been able to understand that one, actually.

Why bother flying home? Just self destruct at the edge of the galaxy and come back with all your data. Why should bounty hunters lose their vouchers? Why should traders lose their cargo? Shouldn't everything be insured? Why have any risk at all? Money should just accumulate automatically.

I ragequit for 1-2 months when I was blown up twice by CMDR (REDACTED) in my vulture while trying to kill stuff in a CG combat zone. I lost two million, which, back then, was a lot of money for me. I understand there are things worth rage-quitting for. But I can't just give fake sympathy when the situation is easily avoidable.

(Funnily enough that ragequitting worked in my favor because it allowed me to accidentally discover the 1.3 CG bug, so in your face, CMDR (REDACTED), your hoopleheadedness netted me 42 million.)

Edit: Please understand that I am not calling out CMDR (REDACTED), I am calling out a Commander whose name is redacted. I understand that CMDR (REDACTED) is a very nice person and has a lovely wife.

Well, s&%it happens, we all are just people and we do mistakes. I'm not giving "fake" sympathy. I just know that it can happen to any of us, no matter how good we are or are we in Solo or Open mode. And this is far worse scenario than just losing your ship in random battle, or lose some hefty amount of credits. But to lose all your efforts from last months.

Let me say here what I said in another topic: play Mortal World for a few months.
If anywhere griefing exists, it's over there.
After ages in there i build a hide a thick as a castle wall.
Awesome training in that regard, brother.

I find it odd to go 4 months without "cashing in" your data. You KNOW you will lose your data on ship destruction, and running into a CMDR is this manner isn't the only thing that can end you.

If u haz no insurance then it's your own fault.

If all it took was one lone ship to wipe out 4 months then u shouldn't be in space.

Ever hear of that profession called exploring?

It's where players go out into the deep black, and look at stuff, then bring the results of looking at stuff back to the bubble to sell. Exploring takes a while, sometime over four months.

It is the ONLY professions where by default everything you have done for the past X days/months can be lost in an instant and you CANNOT insure against it.

I would have thought that, with a 'Dangerous' forum handle you would have had a clue.

THIS is exactly what I meant by not understanding why it is so hard for some to understand what happened to OP. He was coming in to upload his exploration data, but did not make it! Let me quote my own post from earlier this thread:
He had spent last four months out in the deep, no spacestations or anything where to "cash in". I'm sure he was heading right in, but couldn't make it. Returning from long exploration trip is hair rising experience even in solo, you can lose it all...

My sympathies to OP!

It takes four months if you CHOOSE to stay out there that long.

You can also go several weeks without cashing in any bounties, just staying in a RES. It's a foolish choice, but it is YOUR choice.
