I know Horizons is not even a beta version but ...

Greetings

From what I've seen in recent vids of the moons and SRV's I am simply gob smacked, totally amazed that this is all happening so fast.

I wasn't expecting to see planetary landing for a long long time yet, but here it is only weeks away.

Things like dust not looking good or whatever just don't come into it , I'll be landing on a moon and driving an SRV around on it!!!!!!!

I so hope there will be some serious improvement graphic wise for horizons because this looks like my phone could run ED.

What do you think?

That you're unlikely to make hard-working developers work harder with this sort of comment!

I agree the dust clouds are a bit obviously sprite-y. It's maybe a render speed vs quality debate. This is hard stuff.

Don't think the planet looks like plastic at all. It looks great.

These graphics look poor to me, especially the dust....

etc.

I tell you. You young whippersnappers are damned lucky you even have DUST!

Why, back in my day, we had NULL.

PS- And we LIKED it!

I don't really care about the graphics, I'd rather watch movies with good graphics and play games with good gameplay. Wouldn't mind the cars being bricks if the gameplay with them was fun

OP: I am not sure what did you expect, but this is pretty much what I am expecting. It looks quite alright to me.

Fear for the depth or amount of content, bugs, crashes, unfinished stuff, too high prices, exploits, land slide, earth quakes and what not... If there is one thing I'm not worried about, its the quality of the graphics.

Lol, I remember that one :D Happened when a texture failed to load.

Why are earthquakes suddenly so important to people? It's pretty reasonable to assume that making the landscapes extremely dynamic would be a massive amount of extra dev work vs very little new game-play and that getting the basics of seamless planetary landing would be most important at this point. Is there another game that is offering earthquakes all of a sudden that they have become massively important?

It really doesn't seem to be that big of a loss to me, so maybe I'm missing something here? It's a bit like saying "oh you can land on planets but you can't fall down a sink hole then what's the point?"

These graphics look poor to me, especially the dust. Jesus! I have seen this when blowing up ships (the exposion is not really a high-end animation or whatever). Just some 2D image looks extremely unrealistic. :/

Anyone else has this feeling? I don't want to land on planets that look like plastic and don't to see dust that looks like transparent paper (especially not if it doesn't even match the colours).
When looking into the distance, the graphics seems to lose quality and the planet itself looks like plastic. Also the crashed T9 looks just added into the environment (you would probably see it below the surface if you could glitch through). No real crashing impacts on the terrain, just an "added" T9. :(

I so hope there will be some serious improvement graphic wise for horizons because this looks like my phone could run ED.

What do you think?

i have to stop comment this rubbish kind of post for the good of my brain cells

To criticize is ok if there are some base line to it. Please enlighten us what is your reference in this evaluation? as FD said this was a quick and dirty and it was not a polished product, so unless you know something we don't....

No, I think it will not improve. What you see is it.
/sarcastic reply
You open up with 'I know it's beta but' then going on to say what's not right at it's current stage of development. As far as the dust is concerned, sure it's a bit rough but it's volumetric.
What were you expecting for pre-beta footage?

I think the OP is fair. After all, some things looked considerably better in alpha and premium beta than they do in the retail game. It is perfectly possible that it will not get better for horizons.
Then again, why don't we just wait and see.

My jaw is still on the floor from Wednesday night. My tongues hanging out. What we have seen in the last 48 hours is nothing short of incredible and we are worrying about spec of dust. Cough Cough. We should be drinking champagne and celebrating with the devs on a fantastic job
