I like to see what awaits us in Elite

I tried to find this book in the forums but I do not find it, I have downloaded it because from time to time I like to see what awaits us. There are very faithful details to the book but there are others that have been short. It would be interesting from my point of view that retake ideas such as trade between players, areas of refueling, micro-jumps but we will have to see that we get beyond.

This Books can damange the sensivity, are you warned.

It must be recognized that it is beautiful.

And not a single mention of Engineers. :D

Seriously though, it's always great to read through that book. Some stand out points:

  • Various fuel types.
  • Various crew types: Engineers, Gunners, Pilot, Marines.
  • Boarding and Repel-Boarding mechanics.
  • NPC Wingmen.
    Wingmen Betrayal
    Wingmen reaction to criminal actions
  • Persistent NPCs
  • Player log
  • Discovering new Hyperspace Routes (Galaxy isn't immediately discovered)
  • Using scanners with interesting mechanics (i.e. not a single button press) to discover points of interest
  • Mining comets and gas clouds
    Contamination of collected materials
Void creatures (living creatures in space)
  • Placing Claims on Resources
This gives a level of ownership over the resource
  • Salvaging ships and abandoned structures.
Mining like mechanics for the salvage process

And plenty more things besides...

I would love some of those ideas to make it into the game.

Man I remember when these things had me so excited for Elite Dangerous before 1.0.

I also remember when I had hope that even though they weren't in 1.0 they would be coming in updates soon.

Now, four years later, I've resigned myself to fact that the game I was expecting will never be coming. Maybe next time.

I joined at the start of horizons and I had really high hopes for this game, whcih now I have my doubts will ever be realized :-(

For example all the cool stuff to do as a person in the galaxy has been brushed aside by the crybabies from the I don't want spacelegs brigade, and I really want to be the character not the chair.

This has nothing to do with the "I don't want spacelegs brigade". It's not like FD already finished it and just didn't release it yet because some people don't want it.

I'm in exactly the same (space) boat - bought the game when Horizons came out and was expecting to see things like Space Legs and Atmospheric landings appear over the next few years. Despite the constant reminders that it's a 10 year plan and there's a paid update coming this year, I've pretty much given up all hope on seeing these things. I'm left with a game which I enjoy, but doesn't feel like it's going to offer a lot more in the future.

Here's hoping we're wrong.

Where? Where can I buy this game!

O... Nevermind.

As part of my suggestions for suggestions for mining improvements, I suggested Fleet Carriers could be used to "mark a claim" on a mining resourse so as to prevent other CMDRs from mining there...

The threads of suggestions and request of features, but I think they should finish some of the views they had initially raised in this book. The part of how the FRAME SHIFT DRIVE and hyperdrive work are things that would be very good.

All these memories came to mind after watching this video that hung again one of our members, gave me to analyze a little detail and you realize things that already exposed in the video that you find in the book.

Besides that the jump in this video looks incredible, looks like it tells you the percentage of the jump made, as it is consuming fuel during the jump (Could be considered a micro jump according to the book :D), things like that the temperature varies abruptly while you put the ship to the limit (You have to look well at the details of the cockpit indicators). How much hype brought me all this.

Those were part of the DDF.

Agree, the bait and switch is true.

That made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Aarrgh. Me want. It does make the current game feel rather flat.

Funny, I'd settle right now just to have all features from the old games. Seeing this again now though makes me realise how low my expectations are for what will come next. 😕

But seriously, how on earth did these features get overshadowed by Engineers, Powerplay and CQC :(

It’s like there’s a point after 2015 when a serious misdirection in ED took place. The mind boggles.
