I Need GAMEPAD input to Function again (reset), tried Gsearch: no answer yet

The fact that I must ask this here is the really confusing part. I can explain a bit. So, I reset my Win11 user account (for Security reasons/found out not needed*) and then realized all my settings (for a lot of stuff) were lost in the storage drive before I transferred to secondary. I then tried to play ED last night and the GAMEPAD will not reset back to default because the GAMEPAD is not recognized by ED client.

HOW do I get the function of the GAMEPAD restored, so I can remap my bindings?

OS is still on same drive, same account logged back in, then ED was transferred to 2nd D drive, for space saving purposes.

First question would be whether your gamepad is recognized by Windows. No idea where MS moved this to in Win11, but in Win 10, it's a control panel for joysticks - enter "joy.cpl" in the search bar and continue from there.

Ah... ED on a different drive is prone to cause problems (unless you run threough Steam). Speaking of which - Steam, Epic or FD? In the former cases, there are a few additional issues to check first before diving into the windows settings - but none I could help with.

Steam shows ED layout on, gamepad even toggles all the menus in STEAM overlay, and still will not load gamepad into ED client and allow me to start button begin game...no idea if I need to reinstall ED or not...so I am asking if there is a solution...

We need more details eg which gamepad are you using? Does it need drivers for Windows?

You need to explain in more detail what you have tried and what exactly is not working.

if you don't have a custom binds setup and are happy for controls to be reset to default simply delete the bindings folder and restart the game and it will pick up the device id as long as its a wired type and plugged in
(the problem is the game is still looking for the old controller id assigned by windows that you deleted by resting windows)
the folder to delete can be found here
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options
(if you dont see it enable see hidden files and folders in windows folder options located in your windows control panel)

Well, I already lost the Bindings, and not a big deal for me, but I need to use a GAME PAD period....I can not find path as stated, my path in Users/me/ (no AppData/Local/Frontier Dev or ED paths refer, only Storage #2: SteamLibrary/Common/Elite Dangerous/) then there are no actual AppData folders...thanks anyhow...seemed legit but not there...

For record, its the GameSir G7 HE (Terrific BTW) no issues anywhere else...so, why I am here...need more assistance

its there but hidden you have to reveal them first otherwise you wont see the bindings folder as mentioned
the game cannot store them anywhere else otherwise the game wont work .
