The OP has since informed us that they did indeed OPT-OUT of the Preview Program. So what happened to them was not a mistake or a bug. MS stated that anyone who opts out of the Preview Program at this stage will be pushed the PUBLIC release version of the old DB, and this process will WIPE their HDD as part of the process.
As far as the new DB...
MS announced last week that they would be moving EVERYONE in the Preview Program over to the new DB by early November. Since an update to the new DB was inevitable at this point, I decided to go ahead and Opt-In to getting the new version and last night, my machine auto-updated to the new XB1 DB. In fact, I was playing ED at the time, and the XB1 auto-quit ED and brought up the DB update screen and away it went.
So far I have had no problems running ED on the new version. Only issue I have found so far is a display bug with the MTU during a network test. It comes back as 510 instead of the 1492 my MTU setting actually is. Because of this bug, any multi-player network test will fail with the MTU Problem error. I was surprised to find this bug, which has apparently been in the last two versions of the new DB.
Since it doesn't seem to have any effect on the box or ED, I am not sweating it.
