I saw this thread when it was made at first and meant to check how it went, then totally forgot about it until Alex linked it in his claim to fame thread. Duly repped, there's no way I'd have the patience to have tried it but I respect the perseverance and how flat-out daft it was.

I was thinking watching this, as you do. Themadoll said the SRV's thrusters become unresponsive when you leave the planet's gravitational influence and gravity scales in properly as you approach a planet as far as I know, so presumably you can get an SRV on the back of a ship to a decent altitude on a low gravity planet where the gravity will be 0.02G - 0.01G and still have thruster control? Has anybody tried a high altitude ship-to-ship jump yet?

Thanks for the heads up Alex.
I can't post to reddit but feel free to add my congrats for me.
It seems I may have started a new sport LoL

Might be worth a shot...
Frank was talking about giving his SRV an outing tonight. If anything interesting happens I'll let you know.

My SRV launch went quite smoothly. The hardest bit was getting back to the surface of the moon. I wanted to see what would happen if I was nudged back into the moon's sphere of influence

I took a lot of nudging to get me plummeting back down, but I was looking up and couldn't see my decent.

Before I knew it I was back on the surface no worse for wear. Either what I tried glitched the game or I was being a little too conservative in choosing a very low gravity moon.
