I take it no-one is worried that the game is running out of food?

As long as there are occupied escape pods I'm not worried.

However there is something afoot, why are crops failing across the bubble that can't be natural. Is it 'Goids or are those fertilizer Jonnies up to no good, the thot plickens.

Great, now my fighter pilot is broke too:

As far as I know there is none. If there was, a lot (as in a lot) of systems would be in famine all the time. It would be a great BGS mechanic though, starve a system into submission....they did that once in Harma....where they started eating slaves.

There was a Harma-Slave event that I missed? Man. RL gets in the way of everything. :/

<Places tin foil hat onto head>

Looking back at some of the abandoned settlements comms....

Wasn't there an agricultural research base that seemed to be doing well, and then suddenly all the crops failed....?

I initially thought this was a Rockforth money grab, now not so sure. Thargoids planting the Seeds of Doom! Doom I say!

With all the patch, petition and the vast amount of salt that's gone with it.The fresh food seems to have disappeared from Lave and other planets' marketplaces. Has the amount of salt on these forums poisoned the Galaxy?

Seriously though, has anybody had any luck shipping enough to that new fertiliser to revive the markets? (As opposed to the usual fertiliser round here at the moment?

Remember, the Galaxy cannot live on salt alone!!

I haven’t even been paying attention to stuff like that but do read news every now and again

Somewhere in this Dav talks about how the BGS economy works.
CMDR actions push the market away from the start values. But the market returns to those values at a set rate. (If left unattended).

If the market demand and supply is changing in untrafficed systems. That’s not the CMDRs failing to deliver the weekly supplies. That’s the devs hand of godding in a new state.

Heh! Its old Kumo player lore- a player group (the White Templars I think) shut down Harma with unknown artefacts, which till that point could shut down a Powers capital (and mess with Powerplay). As a joke the Kumo invented 'Soylent White' and the glorious Kumo Burger because the citizens were starving..eat the rich!

It's just because we are living in the social media/forum filter bubble. The community is much bigger than that and there's much less salt outside. Maybe get your Lavewiches from there?

Thing is... absence of food doesn't cause famine in the BGS. If famine happens, it'll need to be godhanded by FD.

Sale of any good for profit = positive economic slider result = prevents famine, which is the extreme negative end of the slider.

In old bgs famine was an "independent" state if you will, and not a result of low economic prosperity. There used to be a downtick to make famine happen, but now it's tied to economic state that no longer exists.

I think (but don't quote me on it) FD were going to collapse all modes into one Purge like state called Munchy Mode. Everyone then has to chase after other commanders, and feast on the victim and ship in the style of The Road before they die of hunger themselves. To enable this, life support shows a players hunger just like oxygen. You can synth snacks which top you up, but eventually you must go full Stephen King in Space.

The BGS isn't sacred. Stop acting like it is and haul some fertilizer before we have an interstellar famine.
And funnily enough, that's the big, fat cruncher.

If FD are just gonna airdrop some famine I , what's the point of hauling the fertilizer? And if they don't airdrop it in... trust me... famine ain't going to happen anytime soon without major rework of the mechanics.

Don't get me wrong... I've hauled some, but for wholly different reasons. My tilt is for galactic outbreak, not famine.
