I Tested the New Rapid Fire Phasing Multicannons... They're Crazy.

Ok, I've been looking forward to these since the Fed v. Grom CG last year and I will say they have been worth the wait. First, their stats:

I slapped two of these on my Courier's nacelles and a regular Short Range Blaster | Corrosive Multicannon in the nose for some fun. Initial Haz Res tests showed promise, so I brought them to a High CZ to support an Anarchy faction in a nearby system:

Needless to say, I think I'll be flying the Courier for a while. This thing has enough Potential Damage to last through a whole High CZ (if you don't go 1v1ing a Spec Ops FDL :p) and it carves through CZ NPCs! Here's the build:


Note that there's some inaccuracies there - Courier's top speed is 697 m/s and the Multis aren't properly showing up in either Coriolis or EDSY.

Now... how does one properly and expertly fly a Courier? 🙃
 
After testing these out quickly on a Vulture and Viper IV I put them on a fixed multi Krait II and discovered it can just hose down an anaconda in less than a minute so I've been having fun with that and doing some CZs where you actually have to fly the ship.


Looks like there's a lot of very good/fun builds you can make with these for smaller ships that become a bit more viable because of these weapons.
 
I chose the other side, because these were kinda undersold IMO (seemed the emphasis was on phased sequence experimental rather than the insane DPS). I'm enjoying the plasma guns - my first time since I don't grind Guardian ruins, but I wouldn't mind if this reward (MCs) became available again someday in the future. 🤗

BTW, can these be fed premium ammo? Because that would be crazy-cakes!
 
Not bad cmdr, that was some fancy flying.

IMO, it wasn't the phasing EE that shined. It was the triple ROF that made it so strong that even shields can't hold very long against it.

The proper way is way too fast...
I have no idea of the expert way... But can say that it bounces well!
The beauty of this build is that I can fit 3 full weight weapons, just shy of 1k MJ in the hull and a decent shield and still maintain just shy of 700 m/s on a boost. Slow for some when it comes to Couriers, but plenty fast enough for effective combat :D

I agree it bounces well - comes as a shock after my ramming spree with a Clipper!

Indeed, these do open up quite a lot of possibilities.

Speaking of builds, I realized that the build I posted above has an issue with the shield resistances being tuned the wrong way. I'll have to adjust them later - I usually run a Thermal Resistant shield instead of Enhanced Low Power. I'll update the build link once I figure out a suitable solution.

Edit: Actually, it looks more like the importer from INARA messed up quite a few things here and there. I'm going to have to manually adjust it all.

Still tinkering with it over on EDSY, but here's what I have for now:


I had the Double-Engineered 3A FSD in there weighing the whole thing down. Swapped that out for 3D one (hooray for Carriers!) and I can fit my Thermal Resistant Bi-Weave with no issue. It also appears as though swapping that SRB Multi in the nose for a Lightweight one only costs me about 9 MJ/s in exchange for a big boost in speed. Got it back up to around the 760 m/s mark if I'm reading the metrics right.
 
Looks nice.. I love ICourier.. Its so durable ship with so much speed.. Nice to see something else than vulture or fdl :)
Here is my build.. More on shields and less speed.. 710 is enough anyway, going more is overkill

Has anyone kept track of which of these double Engineered CG modules can later be purchased with mats etc at a Tech Broker for those of us who miss the CG?

Is it eventually all of them?

Does it/will it include these MCs?

So far it's only the class 5 FSD & DSS. The Salvation augmented weapons too if you count those.

We're still waiting for the promised modified heatsinks to be made available.

I'm personally wondering if I can ever get a second double engineered PDT for my AFK boat.

I'd settle for these and other previous rewards to be offered again during future CGs. Not everyone can participate in every CG due to timing. I missed most of the summer CGs, for example, even ones I was interested in.

I'm sure most players who got the first two will probably be happy to have two more, so I don't think repeating rewards would be seen as "Not this again :(", at least not right away.
 
I would personally love to be able to buy more of these beauties. Put four of these on my Daka-de-Lance and three of them on my courier.

The galactic community will thank FDEV for it. :)
