I think I've realised what the problem with ED is.. Braben has lost interest and moved on?

No.

Your contributions are universally hyperbolic suppositions based on either rubbish you've made up off the top of your head, or "steam stats" that tell a fraction of a story but you make up the rest so it fits neatly into your tin foil Dev bashing.

You clearly hate this game and it's developers. Why don't you just push off? Seriously you bring nothing of any value to the table. Not a single thing. No valid critique, no reasonable suggestions for improvement, nothing. You just spend your time bad mouthing and fake newsing your way around this forum.

So time to come fully clean, show us on the doll where the bad people touched you, or sally forth and multiply.

Wow.. [ugh]

Cosmo doesnt hate fd or the game, he is just really really really really anxious by nature. If db doesnt talk, he is scared ed is dying. If he does talk, he is scared everything not discussed that session will never come. If stats go down, he is scared the game is dying. If it rains, he is scared the game is dying.

You have some whiny 'haters' here, but cosmo aint one of em. He is just scared.

Then he needs to put on his big boy pants and nut up instead of the constant hyperbole and making stuff up off the top of his head.

Bite me.

Hey guys,

Wow, this is a pretty meaty thread!

Firstly, I can tell you from being here in the office for two years, and from working with David, that he's very involved in Elite Dangerous and still loves the game and the community. It really is his baby, as some of you have said! In terms of the games direction, we've recently announced and released the first part of a year of free updates which are largely focused on reworking and improving core mechanics for which we will happily accept your feedback. The whole team is dedicated and passionate about making the best Space Sim game possible, and we hope you'll be along for the ride.

I think we're all very well aware of the latest updates that have been released for free. Then removed from the game. Then re-added in a nerfed-to-oblivion state. Let's not even bother discussing the guardian tech constant fiasco since release.

Instead it's time to acknowledge there are very real problems plaguing the game and it's not getting better. Players are treated with contempt. Grind for grind's sake is the only consistent vision. Meanwhile a large number of us are worried and waiting in the background for it to get better. But it Keeps. Getting. Worse.

Sure sure, steam numbers maybe are decent at the moment. And yes, there are a number of things in the game that make it better than it was 3 years ago. That's all well and good but those things aren't going to matter if the player-base is slowly driven away by anti-player decisions like forcing them to repeat the same guardian puzzle 18 to an unknown amount of times just to get a required number of blueprints. This isn't acceptable and if you think it is, you're contributing to damaging the game and its player-base.

At it's core, Elite should have 5-10 times the people playing it than it has now in my opinion. It doesn't because most people don't play games for grind. Fix the grind, put in an endgame system that encourages activities outside grind and awards passive income (PvP is only one example) and suddenly the game has a much wider appeal, an end goal to focus on, and a lot of emergent gameplay along the way. Everyone wins.

But rather than consider that idea I'll be shouted down. Called various names. Accused of hating the game. On and on it goes.

Here is a very specific bottom line: If there is another dev and publisher out there brave enough to do a space sandbox game and actually release it (looking at you SC), ED is in a lot of trouble. You cannot get away with treating your player-base the way ED does when there is a competitor to jump to. Right now releasing fully broken modules into production is somehow acceptable.

I love ED. I've put weeks and weeks of play time into it. I yearn for what it could be, but am losing hope it will ever get anywhere close.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Since this thread has had an official response directly addressing OP's concerns, and seeing how the handbags are already flying again, I'm going to close this.
