I think we owe an apology to FD including my self.

ED is still the best space game out there, that doesn't mean however that it's without flaws, the players are there to point out those flaws.

I am torn between owing a thank you to FDev developing a resource hog space game to a niche market and being upset by the development void after the already pretty stale Beyond.

BTW why is thread in here instead of Dangerous discussions?

Yeah ED is the game I've been waiting for since the original from 1984, Fdev created a beautiful galaxy with a lot of awseome stuff.
Unfortunately Fdev has the habbit of leaving a lot of features unfinished, half baked as some call it, that's a pitty.
And then there are the numerous bugs being neglected.

As I said before ED is best out there at the moment but definitely not without it's flaws.
Pointing out those flaws isn't something I think I need to apologise for.

Oh and this thread was moved here because it involves Fdev, not the game, so presumably off topic.

Nobodies saying don't point out flaws. Its the gripe delivery style that can sometimes leave a lot to be desired.

Powerplay? CQC? Multicrew? If they were too hard to put in (or FD not willing to support them for any length of time) they should have been left out.
Imagine an Elite where they added a racing championship in CQC and in-game events with racing through asteroid fields and all that fun.

CQC had so much potential but they wasted it.

Really enjoyed all the years of updates. SLF alone has given me way too much pleasure in VR... got plenty of use out of CQC as well, don't give a damn about it being integrated into the world and having to trek somewhere to see some idiots spamming garbled nonsense.

Didn't cost much, either. Just Horizons, never was tempted by any paintjobs. So definitely time for another paid expansion next year!

In case you haven't realized it (but then you aren't new here, how comes?) but Frontier has done nothing in the past 5 years but creating and adding 'potential'. Nothing new came ever out in a full fledged and sane condition. These things drip in over the month/years - or not at all. They are quite aware about it and stand to their development style. There's nothing you, me or anyone else would ever be going to change. You are free to express your disdain at any time of course, if it makes you feel better. :)
Do not get me started.

The two most glaring examples of failure in expansions are CQC and Powerplay.

Powerplay is a complete cluster considering (just a few) points.

  • The 3 major factions are basically useless now when the "big three" are part of powerplay
  • How any of the imperial factions are ALLOWED to move against the empress boggles my mind
  • Apparently there are no major diplomatic incidents when a senator takes his PRIVATE FLEET into another major factions star system and "liberates it"

I mean...imagine if they had done it RIGHT, with actual realpolitik that would impact the bubble if the major factions are caught in wars due to the actions of the powerplay factions.

Not to mention, if they had instead tied the powerplay factions to minor factions and added bonuses for missions done for minor factions instead of this stupid weekly tally system they have going...

Damnit, you got me started.

If FD wanted to make ED self sustaining they'd either decouple the big 3 and mix it into Powerplay, or remove powerplay and morph the BGS more to fit that role. FDs mistake was either thinking automation would be possible in this or that they underestimated the level of input required going forward (lore, collapse, CGs, II etc).

As it stands ED is a game that requires far too much developer time from a company that likes self contained games with short lifespans (2 years then the next).
