Yes, I realised quite some time ago that I could do with a graphic card update. It's not that simple though - when I looked into it I discovered I had been sold a PC that could not be upgraded in this way - thank you Dell.
So if I do want to step it up a bit it would have to be a new PC - which at the moment would have to be fairly low down on my list of financial priorities.

Think ypur current gfx card maybe AGP. Everything is PCIE now.

Tbh a new is probably thd better way to go. Its alot cheaper to self build too. I have been doing that for the last 20 years.

It can be done on a budget, theres no need to go silly. But the biggest single upgrade anyone can do is get an SSD drive.

Yes - I think a new machine will probably be the path to follow.
Having said that, if people are still having problems with a setup like this -- i7 quad core with EVGA GTX 970, 16 Gig memory and SSD drive -- then I still think there may be other issues that FD need to look at.

Since last uodate my 6770 locks up after 1ish black screen and have to power comp off as no display. Graphicall upto this point never had a problem.

... that GPU is 8 years old. It's almost as old as the Xbox 360. I'm not fairly certain that it's time for an upgrade. I am telling you, it is time for an upgrade.

Regardless of whether my graphics and / or computer need a drastic overhaul, there is something definitely hinky on the server side. I have just spent a solid hour or so of gameplay - including interdictions and combat - without a problem - no stutter, pauses or freezing. Don't know whether this is a permanent fix or not, but I live in hope.
