I want data!

Woah. Thanks for that link. A very tantalising read

It is but why are the planets still simplistic at this stage of development if that level of procedural generation and detail is all in place and ready to roll out?
Will we get a big surprise in Beta 2?
After all, surely we get all the things discussed therein by release and only actual landings and first person aspect will be an expansion.

There must be a temptation for them to hold back as much they think they can get away with and profit from the expansions but that would go against what was promised and the spirit of having a kickstarter project.

Okay I will shut up, I am working myself into a lather just speculating about planets. :D

+1

Like it so much, and Im almost sure this will be available further with upcoming expansions.

"To fully explore a system, players will need to first scan it at a basic level, and then use that data to further scan the system's planets and moons."

Look at this...

Scanning systems and planets is upcoming in Beta 2. As yet it is unknown if the planets will be improved and given atmosphere, weather effects etc within that Beta release. (See newsletter 41)

Actually, I don't think that a celestial object view is in the plans man. Reading this http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=6298 ,It only talks about galaxy view and system view. Hovering your mouse over a planet will give you some basic info, and clicking the planet will give you more info.

I am advocating the creation down the line of a third view, the celestial object view. Complete with full scientific data, height, composition, color, mineral, bio etc maps and interactivity with the exploration feature set in the game..C:

A very crude and very old (but awesome) screenshot for what I am talking about..

I think you get the point....:)

Bump.

This would be good for asteroid mining as well. A more detailed scanner view of what is there.

Great suggestions commander.
