having been given space legs and failed a mission I want to get back on my ship, but the only option i now have is Apex travel to not be able to access my ships all I have is a bunch of 'universal' icons with no tutorial. I got a few billion credits too but cant use any of them. game account available for anyone who wants it as its now unusable.

I got sent to a prison ship 900ly away (perhaps the Orion Nebula Tourist Centre wasn't the best choice for taking Odyssey missions).
The prison ship had an Apex counter. I was a couple of Apex jumps away from a station with better facilities, so I went there. Then used Inter Astra to book a ship transfer from the Orion Nebula, and used the local Apex to run missions while I waited.

yeah... nah...dont work ........is there some sort of game guide......sort of like a tutorial or documentation that explains what all the new icons actually mean? perhaps an instruction manual that sort of explains it..... or.... just a button that puts me back in my ship so I can avoid horrible experience that odyssey is.

Default Control Layout - you may need to check and reconfigure those in options, controls, on foot. for example i had to rebind tool mode change to R(hold) and mission help to H(hold), but the Access panel on Q(hold) was ok.
Edit... but if you are in a station, detention center, etc - you need to find the Apex desk and talk with the NPC there and book long distance shuttle to a system nearby that has an orbital space port.
Edit2... and after you get to that station, find the Inter Astra and talk to the NPC to recall your ship.

Well, the default is Q (it can be changed; check keybinds) - and you can't change the Access Panel navigation hotkeys (so they default to whatever your WSAD binds are).
If it's not working, then just switch back to Horizons - you will be put back in your ship, probably in space.

The Codex does have an entry on what the Access Panel is though .. doesn't tell you how to access it, or what the icons mean but whatever.
I think we're missing some info here. You failed a mission but are still at the settlement?
OK, how did you get there? By Apex or by your own ship? If it was your own ship, why isn't it where you left it?
Or do you now need a pickup from a different location because you ran out of the settlement?
