General / Off-Topic I Was A Game Hacker! ;)

Yeah, I actually /found/ the cheats :p

Others have been /using/ the cheats :)

Finding cheats is still not a hacker, they were provided to you, they were known, hackers actively break and modify the game code. Where cheats such as these are part of the game.

Look, did you read my initial post, where I got my cheats publish in a magazine? Those weren't easter eggs - I had to actively poke around code - and understand it - in order to say "change this value here and it'll give you infinite lives" ;)

In other words - they weren't handed to me, and I actively broke and modified the game code. :)

Yup. Editing executable code (in RAM or on file) has nothing to do with 'cheat codes'. I can remember fixing an annoying bug in an Amstrad CPC 464 game by disassembling it and finding the relevant error. Not something I'd want to try with ED, even if I had the tools...

on the zx spectrum there was a football management game called "brian cloughs football fortunes"...me and my mate used to do a 2 player season and for formations instead of 4-4-2 ect,it would let us type 9-9-9....lol we rinced every game, both our teams were the top dogs...we were very proud to have done it ourselves.

another old classic was on WWF wrestlemania challenge(zx again) if you typed "hulk hogans yellow underpants" into the menu it would unlock hogan....honest guv.(its true)

then it was the console era with its game genie cartridges lol.....

i dont even play gta v without all the mods and stuff and invincibilty..(offline of course)....its what makes some games totally fun,i like to play properly until i get to the end, then i rince it for fun.
