if you follow math then the human race is hopelessley inbred, gentics and other stuff changes things and this doesnt happen in its worst form.

As for thargoids, 1) i dont think they are born live and die as the entity they are, i am sure that they age and shed more like spiders or similar, or if not shed, they pupate and make a cryssalis they bury underground that slowly but surely grows to its next form, what if scouts are mindless babies that attack out of instinct, and each of the interceptors is after such a phase of regeneration and shedding. if this is the case and each cycle starts anew every few decades or after recovery from a severe injury from a battle then ages of each ship may be in the millenia.

2) There may be few hive clusters, wandering nomadically around the galaxy, normally this shows that food sources are not only rare in those areas but may also be seasonal.
