I would hope would get a Planet Zoo 2 someday

Frontier is saying that the next pack will be a last one? and so soon? I was looking forward for any more animals that'll come later.

Well, just Frontier developed Jurassic World evolution 2, I would hope we could get Planet Zoo 2, and that we could truly get aviary birds, aquarium animals, farm animals, or other wild animals the game still didn't include yet.

Source of the last pack details?
Their financial year decisions with descriptions of their plans up to June next year. It only listed one DLC for Planet Zoo before June 2024.
I heard about it from Rudi on YouTube - hunting down the report he showed on the video

The public document doesn't explicitly say it though, but the one Rudi had access to did. So, maybe he has access to extra information from them.

Thinking it's speculation it's the last pack, with some signs pointing to it being possible. Just speculation as well but I think we're definitely in the last year of PZ. Getting two packs would be great at this point, but considering the run the game has had, any new content is amazing.

To the point of the thread, I would welcome a PZ2 but I have a feeling we won't see it anywhere near as soon as people think. I highly doubt they're going to turn around in 2025 and release PZ2. Not impossible, but just my suspicion. I'd think 2027 or 2028 is more likely.

Well, they did say a game a year in the Management Simulation style. So, if as Rudi says, Planet Zoo is at it's Moving to Console stage, and Planet Coaster is at it's Let's Improve on This stage this year, then maybe by FY26 or FY27 Planet Zoo will be at it's Let's Improve on This stage. But, I am sure as they have said, we will know in a few weeks which of their games are moving to console. FY25 starts in June this year, so hopefully in the latter part of this year we will start hearing about their next CMS game which may or may not be Planet Coaster 2. The addition of nurturing it's existing portfolio, gives me hope that they haven't abandoned Planet Zoo, they just might not be putting as much work on it - so maybe bug fixes, and, if Rudi is wrong and we will get more DLCs, maybe not as many of them as we are used to so they can concentrate on those new games.

Frontier has confirmed three future CMS games with one releasing in each of the next three financial years - FY25, FY26 and FY27. Whilst developing those three future CMS games the Company will continue to support and nurture its existing portfolio.

Frontier has two successful PC games coming to consoles before the end of this financial year. The first of these was confirmed on 16 January, with Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters announced for release on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One on 20 February 2024. The second PC game coming to consoles will be announced in the next few weeks.

I would take it with a grain of salt of it comes from someone who does not work for Frontier.

No offence to Rudi, love their videos, but anyone can say those things and not be true.

Usually I would as well, but the web site he is looking at, is on the same path that you get to see the public document I linked. So, although I will gladly wait for the official public statement before I panic ( I won't really panic - it's a game after all rofl ) , I would not be surprised if the featured content creators for the game would have a little advance knowledge of some information. But, I suspect for the most part that he is theorising based on what is showing on that document. There is always that chance that they just didn't bother mentioning DLCs.

D'oh you can access that presentation, it wasn't as visual a link. It's just the word view on that investors link I linked above. And reading that presentation, it can be interpreted that way.

H2 FY24 NEW CONTENT/PLATFORMS - The next 6 months of content/platform changes
FY25 NEW GAME RELEASES - Next years ( June 2024-May2025 ) new games
Does this mean that FY25 will have NO DLCs at all ? Possibly, but it could also just mean that nothing has been set in stone YET.

But .. if we were to get a Planet Zoo 2 in the future. I would hope that they pick at least the favourites animals/features etc from Planet Zoo 1 and add some new ones or, they make it so that the DLCs for Planet Zoo 1 are compatible with or convertible to Planet Zoo 2, that way they could spend more time on new stuff but with a little work, the old stuff would be useable still.

Folks other than saying PZ2 or the PZ is ending this year, can we do something to change their mind. I made a thread about "expansions". Just need more support, i think giving Frontier ideas to make money and showing them we are willing to pay the way to get PZ to keep going. Thread list below:

guys I am not trying to get fame, all I want is game continuation, we get aviary and aquarium. PZ gets upgrade overtime with expansions. Please folks, please support. Maybe too late? Maybe they buy the idea and do something in 2025.

Thanks.

No. That isn't how it works. Frontier is a business, they don't care what a handful of people on a forum say they want if the financial side of things doesn't back that up.

Anyway, the last pack being the summer pack is exactly in line with what has been speculated for the last several months, and in line with Planet Coaster. Rudi also mentions a new game coming this year - that would also be on-brand. Old game finishes in June, new game releases in November. That is exactly what happened with Coaster.

Personally, not having packs won't affect my choice to play Planet Zoo or not. And they aren't abandoning the game by the sounds of it, just maybe not producing any more DLCs. Maybe by not adding more DLCs they can spend that development time keeping the game functional ( support and nurture ). Planet Zoo
Whilst developing those three future CMS games the Company will continue to support and nurture its existing portfolio.

The back-catalogue of games which released before the start of the financial year performed well in H1 FY24, generating 72% of total revenue. The largest contribution came from Frontier’s established portfolio of CMS games – RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, Jurassic World Evolution and Jurassic World Evolution 2 – which together recorded £26.3 million of revenue in H1 FY24 (55% of total revenue), representing a sustain rate of 81% versus the comparative period (H1 FY23: £32.6 million).

As expected, the strongest performers in the period were Jurassic World Evolution 2 and Planet Zoo, which were both supported with free updates and multiple PDLC packs. Across the whole portfolio, PDLC accounted for 29% of total revenue in H1 FY24 (H1 FY23: 30%).

Hopefully the fact that PZ and JWE2 were the primary providers of their profit will stir them into keeping the games workable for the player base. I for one have Planet Zoo as my primary game source with nearly 1800 hours of gameplay since beta under my belt - and that's not playing it all the time.

As NZFanatic said, no. Frontier does not care what some people say on their forums, they care about money. Also, as great as Planet Zoo is, it also has some serious problems that can't be fixed by DLC (frustrating pathing system, engine struggling with object count, can't handle more than a handful of textures per map, etc.) I also don't want them to keep trickle feeding niche animals every few months to what is now an older game, especially when we don't even have aquariums or aviaries.

To me, a sequel would be really frustrating. I would just hate a sequel where the game mechanics are slightly improved compared to PZ but almost everything else is the same, and I have to wait years to get essential zoo animals all over again. I don't want a PZ 2, I want a PZ's successor. I don't care if I have to wait 10+ years. 😂

Same. I'm not going to put money in a new game if it's for something I could have had in the first PZ...

I am going to be sad when DLC ends, but I really do not understand people saying anything they can do to PZ2 is something they can do in PZ and there should never be a PZ2.

Firstly, I think there are some things they couldn’t do in PZ that would be improvements for PZ2. But mainly, people want these overhauls done for free as updates to accompany the DLC. No company, no matter how benevolent, is going to give massive overhauls as free updates. Sure, building may be near perfect, but I think that’s about it.

1. Unique animal personalities and traits. Something I thought this game would have upon release, but sadly not every animal was unique. Animals would have different attitudes. Some are shy, others aggressive. Etc.
2. Expand on the unique skin and fur textures already in PZ. Think varied antlers with some being broken. Or an elephant tusk missing. Etc. shaggier fur for one orangutan as opposed to another. This could be for every animal rather than one base game animals per DLC.
3. Greatly expand animal interaction. Not just adding more per species, either. Have more interspecies animation. Gibbons and orangutans playing. A boar chasing off a deer because it got too close. Asian small clawed Otter’s pack aggression towards other animals. They could also add the enrichment items to all suitable species.
4. Guest-animal interaction. This would make a petting zoo more palatable for me(and I’m against it). Tug of war vs lions with 8 guests. Feeding animals. Using a hose. Ambassador animals being carried around the zoo by an educator.
5. A revamp of all base game animals to fit the quality of those in dlc. (This is the big one that people claim should be done for free. It’s a massive undertaking to redo all base game animals.) Orangutan, Lion, etc.
6. Full aviary capability and a roster of 20+ birds.
7. Full marine capability and a roster of 20+ full aquatics.
8. Exhibit overhaul with varied sizes and actual movement and creative capabilities.
9. Improvements to the base game engine so that one can build a full size zoo. Right now most can only build about 50-60% of the zoos they love before lag makes the game unplayable.
10. Improved pathing system.
11. More meaningful management and keeper interaction.
12. Complete climbing system overhaul for more fluid movement making monkeys a more realistic addition to the game.

If PZ2 has even 5 of these improvements, I’ll pay the money all over again. Frontier is in a financial pit hole and a small dribble of 10 bucks every 3 months from the shrunken (and loyal, committed) player base isn’t going to cut it. They’ll clearly make more off of a $45-60 release of an incredible base game to a new, invigorated audience.

I would love if they added any and all of the above in free updates, but I’m not going to expect frontier should redo all of it without compensation, and some of the above are not fully possible with the current game.

Would I like a potential PZ2? Sure I think obviously we all would when the time is right. But in order for a sequel to even exist first frontier would have to get back on its feet and this will be a uphill battle. Totally possible and frontier is definitely talented enough to rebuild itself but they’ll definitely have to create games that connect with a large audience. In this case PC2 is a great start but I’m sure it will take more than that. I really don’t think much about a sequel to PZ as it would definitely take 3-6 yrs possibly more with their current situation and on top of that no sequel is guaranteed. Anyway a lot changes in 3-6 yrs and quite honestly like everything else you kinda move on with your life. But I will say if the sequel to a game doesn’t include things that weren’t possible with the first then really there’s no reason for a sequel. Anyway do I see a sequel if frontier lands back on their feet sure but this is years away.

We will See what will happen. But it is Just normal that in FY2024 only DLC will come. Because the financial year ends on the 31st of May. So the June/Summer DLC would be in June. And Content Creators are Not official sources. They also only speculate. And I somehow cannot Imagine that they have extra Insights into the companys Plans. Three years ago there were also speculations that Winter 2021 could be the Last DLC by content creators. And we are still here.
So shortly summarized we will probably know around Easter. If there will be a bigger DLC it is a hard sign for Last DLC or at middle of June as Summer DLC until know (except the Corona year 2020) Always came Out within the week of Calendar Summer starting.

My Personal opinion is that I could Imagine a full year Support because of sales and fresh money until the next Game comes out. This further would allow to reach the milestones of 5 years of support and 200+ animals within the game. Just my thinking about it. But we will see. Sooner or later.

This was exactly my response in Rudi's video. But then, after his response, I thought the FY25 included content but when I looked yesterday I realised they only included NEW games in FY25 and not new content. So, I am hopeful that more DLCs will come in the FY25 time frame ( June 24-May 25 ). Especially with Planet Zoo being one of the 2 many money makers thanks in part to the DLCs. I guess, we will just have to wait and see what happens.
