[IC] Request for Aid In Maia System (Open)

--BEGIN TRANSMISSION--

To whomever reads this, we need your help!

I am a native of Darnielle's Progress on Maia A 2 A.

As you may have recently heard, Meta Alloys have been made available for sale in our market here. We all know the potential dangers this can pose for all of us, but that is not why I'm reaching out to you. This current situation is a mere by-product of what life is like here for us.

The Ant Hill Mob is in complete control of the Maia system now. I have done all I can on my own to assist rival factions here and stamp them out, but The Ant Hill Mob's foothold is far too strong for me and my wingmen to have any real impact. What makes this system so challenging for us to turn around is that Ant Hill Mob runs every station in Maia, and there are no stations for repair or restock in neighboring systems to replenish our resources. In our lawless system, it is also extremely difficult to gain favor with rival factions who are understandably extra cautious about who they're willing to offer missions to.

With Maia being such an important system in the galaxy (ie: a major resource for barnacles/meta alloys, the host system for Dr. Pallin's research, etc...) we hope that you will see the importance of stabilizing our system and bringing much needed law & order back to our people.

We have no one else to turn to! Please help us!! You're our only hope!!!

CMDR Boyan, out!

Congratulations to the Ant Hill Mob on asserting their control on the Maia system.

Such bold entrepreneurialism is an inspiration to those of us who wish to remain unshackled by the tyranny of the false gods "law" and "order".

I make Maia my home between expeditions into the deep black. I too help out where I can. Unfortunately, the forces that allowed the Ant Hill Mob to seize control from the coalition of scientific and exploration organizations that founded it can't be used to unseat them. The sale of unknown artifacts and meta alloys was deemed illegal by the station founders and the citizens gathering these exciting new resources had no recourse but to turn to the black market. The huge number of transactions in the black market strengthened the Ant Hill mob until they held a stranglehold over the entire system. Unfortunately, as an anarchist organization, sales to the black market don't destabilize them even though they are the dominant faction. And sales of exploration data and the occasional trade run from the bubble only serve to strengthen them.

Frankly I'm unsure how to unseat them. I've begun turning in my exploration data elsewhere, but I don't dare attack directly, as turning the Ant Hill Mob hostile will mean I'll have to leave Maia.

CMDR Boyan,

I'm Major Rebecca Hail from the Federal Fast Response Unit.
Unfortunately Maia is outside of the jurisdiction of the federal navy, so we can not assist you in your fight against the anarchists of the Ant Hill Mob.

Nonetheless we will send several transport ships of the federal navy to extract the remaining federal personnel in Maia.
If you have refugees who wish to start a new life outside of the madness and insanity of the frontier, we're willing to transport those against a small fee of 50.000 cr per person.
Several core systems of the Federation have already agreed on taking the refugees in.

Best regards,
Rebecca Hail

All teams assigned to Maia, get ready for extraction according to evacuation plan R16.

Major Hail,

I will spread the word of your offer to extract civilians. Even as a mere Chief Petty officer, I am fully aware of how complicated it was for you to organize the offered extraction, so it will come with great appreciation from the people of Maia, I'm sure. You should, however, be aware that I am not an official representative of the people of Maia.

With all due respect, Major, I am shocked the Federation does not see the profit potential for such a lucrative system. Maia is heavy in Meta-Alloy supply, and at the fore front of research thanks to Dr. Pallin's efforts here. Even more disturbing is the sale of Meta-Alloys directly threatening the stability of all factions in the Milky Way and giving the Ant Hill Mob (and even some clever civilians and engineers) the tools needed to sabotage and cripple their more capable enemies - One of which the Federation is listed.

Further, we should consider the recent technological plague caused by and resolved by these new foreign materials, and what our dependency on them has done to our economies. All that being said, if only a few of the Federation's corporations would band together to make some enticing offers to attract pilots to our agenda (to ultimately remove the Ant Hill Mob from power in the Maia system) we could be seeing an entirely new trade route spanning over 100 Light Years into Federation space, allowing for one of the Federation's biggest expansions in recent history.

Surely the Federation wouldn't give up such a substantial investment opportunity and reduce it to a mere 50,000 cr per civilian extracted, when we're talking about controlling one of the most important and rarest materials in the galaxy?

This is where I stand, as well. Due to their location in the galaxy, it's important that we still be able to use the local stations for restock and repair to have any real impact. This is why I am proposing other Commanders join in the fight. If enough of us take part, each of us can cumulatively do big damage without them being aware we are all working together.

Unfortunately the admiralty assigned a higher priority to maintain a strong presence along the federal-imperial border due to recently increased tensions between Empire and Federation.

Furthermore an intervention would attract unintended attention, would attract unintended attention and Maia recently lost it's monopoly on meta alloys, which was an important factor when the admirality made this decision.

With the destabilizing pirate lords and crime bosses in Pegasii and the threat of another federal-imperial war, it's currently impossible to take action against the Ant Hill Mob and several recently expanding criminal factions in Pegasii.

Nonetheless, the actions of those anarchists and criminals in Pegasii and Maia will be monitored and as soon as possible we will take actions against them.

Understood.

Plotting a course for Pegasii immediately. ETA is approximately 5 hours from now. We will do all we can to assist with the criminal element in that system. Hopefully this will expedite the process and provide a window of opportunity for the Federation to revisit its stance on removing the Ant Hill Mob from the Maia system.

If you need more direct assistance in Pegasii, please feel free to add me (Boyan) to your wing as needed.

Oh, very good Major!

I've always admired the Federation's instinct to capitalise on a crisis; it's that kind of entreprenurial spirit that keeps blood and steel moving in the Pegasi Sector, too. See, we're not so dissimilar, after all.

And in keeping with your capitalist traditions, allow me to compete in the open market; I will offer transportation for these refugees to new lives and jobs at Black Omega's newly acquired facility in Aonibozo for half the cost: 25k per person.

Ah, Marrakesh Morgan, the spokeswoman of Black Omega.

We have a pretty big file about you in the federal archives.

I'll keep my price of 50.000 credits per head and add an guarantee that each person will a) survive the trip and b) will not be enslaved as soon as the trip is done.

And it's one of the things that make the federal navy so efficient, we're covering the transport costs at the source.

Flattery will only get you so far with me, Major.

Are you suggesting their fate maybe somehow in danger whilst in my care?

Do you take us for savages, or something?

This shallow mindedness is what we've come to expect from the so-called "SuperPowers".

Best of luck with the evacuation. Pray nothing untoward happens to those transports.

Morgan out.

You can expect more from the so called "superpowers" when you have more to offer to the so called "superpowers", dear Miss Morgan.

And thanks for you concern for our transport, I'm sure the pilots will be happy to hear that. The refugees surely too, as soon as they have paid for their passage.

CMDR Boyan, thanks for your offer to work for the Federation.

I will forward it to the federal auxiliary navy, which coordinates the freelancers working for the Federation.
I'm sure they'll have plenty of work for you and your comrades.

I am currently not near the federal-imperial border since important tasks need my attention elsewhere.

Best regards,
Major Rebecca Hail
