I'd play CQC for materials instead of credits

I like CQC. I don't play it often because when i'm playing ED the main game usually grabs my attention. However, i might play it from time to time. Its good fun, and ultimately, that is why i play any game. I don't play ED for the credits or the materials. I play it for fun.

So, no, materials wouldn't get me to play CQC more. What might get me to play though, if we are talking about benefits to the main game, is something i've mentioned several times before in similar topics, and that is customization options for your SLFs. Those modules you unlock in CQC, let's get them in the main game, so you can configure your SLFs.

Seems like a no-brainer to me.

In addition to diversifying the rewards, a couple things that would really help CQC, all of which have been said before; let us join the queue from the main game so we aren’t sitting looking at the lobby screen for 10 minutes while doing nothing, let us fly with NPCs when there are no players available, and let us see how many players are actively in CQC from the main CQC menu. Also, give us more than 5 seconds to make a choice on switching ships/load out between deaths.

Beyond those issues, CQC is a blast! Especially in VR. But the amount of time wasting and inconvenience that comes with it makes me often forget to even consider it as a way to spend my leisure time.

Queue inside the main game (no disruption to the game itself).
You get rewards for playing. Money, decals, paintjobs, ship parts.
You can visit a station and check the services panel for up to the minute cqc score boards.
Visit a CQC station, and you can opt in to watch the fights from a "TV broadcast" like experience.
Bring-Your-Own-Ship CQC pits Cmdr's against each other using their own ships.

How about now?
