(Idea) How to save your crew member

So I had a strange accident happen the other day..

I showed this to frontier and they have offered to not only refund my rebuy, but also save my crew member.
Again, thank you so much for this frontier! (It's so hard to find a decent looking crew member!)

While talking to them, I made the following suggestion and was told to post it here for the developers to see.

What if our crew members were valued at X amount of credits based upon their rank?

This value would be factored into our ships rebuy cost.

Thoughts?

Yeah this comes up fairly frequently (your idea and several others) - hopefully FD'll look at it as part of the Beyond QoL improvments, but they've made no mention of it (they might be happy with how it's setup!), so ...

Sounds like the absolutely simplest, driest, dullest, least involving, most effortless way of implementing such a feature.

Of course Fdev think it's a good idea. [sad]
 
Why not. You know what would be also great? To create your own crew member face using holo-me feature because the ones generated are ugly af.

I hear ya there! I litterally wasted a million creds hiring and firing crew members until I got the one I was happy with.

When I saw Krait intro vid I got all excited that we might be getting an NPC crew option but alas, it was not to be...

Me too. I've been asking for this for a year now. We have empty seats in most of our ships. We have Holo-me tools (that could be used for crew creation). Everything is in place to put crew in those seats. ??
 
I would rather they lose a single combat rank on each death (eg resurrect at Deadly if previously Elite). That would be a sufficient penalty. Simply paying money would be meaningless in the age of billionaires.
 
I'd rather see a "job satisfaction" meter implemented.

- If you keep making them money, their job satisfation rises.
- If you don't keep making them money, their satisfaction lowers.
- If you get destroyed, their satisfaction takes a big plunge.

If their satisfaction gets too low, they quit and go work with someone else. Like actual people would do. The "progress" people would still be annoyed, but at least it would make sense.

This really seems like it could be fixed with a quick lore change, so they do get to use an escape pod - like literally every other human being on your ship, including the cheapest passengers - and they just either don't get rescued or they don't find their way back to you. Just have them shuffling back into the great crew deck rather than shuffling off this mortal coil.

Like actual people would do ???? I totally hate my job, but i still go there 4 times a week.

ANYTHING allowing me to keep my crew member alive would be a blessing. At this point I don't care about the lore / price / whatever.
So YES.
 
Buy equivalent module size and restock as needed, presuming they aren't covered by the Pilots Federation stock loadouts as we are. Seems fair enough considering passenger missions.

Yes, it is apparent some plays do not appreciate contextual and meaningful gameplay mechanics and compromises. I'm not one of them.
