Idea: Supercruise modification for space-legs.

I had a suggestion a while back,

The FSD has speed up and slow downs due to the gravitational field of high mass objects bending and stretching spacetime. (think of the ant on the rubber band paradox)

But as our FSD's work within operating parameters to prevent failure (same as any machine, rev limiter, voltage regulator etc).

I suggest we have a "boost" button in supercruise that overrides those "FSD Rev Limiters" and allows us to accelerate much faster at the cost of FSD integrity over time.

that would create another use for the "reinforced FSD" engineer blueprint, as you could mod your FSD for integrity allowing you to speed along in Supercruise for much longer than the AVG CMDR.

so for instance, you may need to jump one or 2 jumps more than the "Max FSD Range" CMDR, but the 15k LS station will take you a few seconds to get there at boost speed of 2001c.

and an easy way of determining the "rate of decay" for the FSD integrity could be, "your FSD will be toast 1/2 way to Hutton Orbital" and using boost on your FSD will put a debuff on it making the AFMU take much longer to fix it, that way the Hutton Run cant be cheesed by the new mechanic,

and the FSD boost mechanic will therefore only be viable to reach far out stations where at the destination you can click "repair all" :)

Just a thought

Indeed, exploits must always be considered and avoided. Maybe this accel could work better at low speeds, and cap at around 100cc, so that long distances in deep space couldn't be "cheated". It would be more useful when leaving a planet or the close proximity of a star.
