Use the screen to toggle the Left - Right - Rear views. Then we have all the 1984 views in the game. Side views are so cool when you are flying with others.

I wouldn't mind a waypoint list or some info on nearest planet. Top down view of system bodies. Local laws, ie. illegal in system. Ship schematic showing damaged areas? Maybe multiple tabs so you can switch between them.

We've all seen it. We've wondered why its there and what should be on it.

Personally I think it should be a rear-view camera. My car has one, my wifes car has one, and this morning as I managed to plow into an asteroid full burn speed using flight assist off, I was reminded why elite needs one. (And yes we had one in 1984).

So what are your ideas?

Rear cam sounds nice. But also incoming hails maybe with webcams or picture of the caller !

Seriusly I would love ED to provide API to program your own plugin to show stuff. That way one could put for example notepad on it or something else

I know, what it is showing is a game whereby the player is controlling the life of a person in the early 21st century, making major decisions (what sort of jobs they do, whether to get married and have children, etc.), and generally trying to make their way through life.
