Ideas / suggestions for activities in the PlayStation (Legacy) galaxy?

Last night I broke 4000 hours in Elite Dangerous and it got me thinking - while I don't spend anywhere near the time playing the game that I did when I got it four years ago I do still like to get my hotas out go out flying around what IMO is ED's biggest strength - the galaxy itself.

Obviously we console players have been thrown under the bus and don't get anything new these days but there's still a lot out there to see and do. There are various threads across these forums with things like sights to visit but I thought I would try and get a list in one place.

So, my request is - add to this thread some ideas for interesting activities still available to us in the non Live galaxy. Any type of play at all - exploration, combat, trade, mining, anti xeno, whatever (altough I suspect exploration might be the most popular). I'll start by adding a few ideas to this thread.

Visit the Guardian site nearest to the Galaxy Centre.

There are Guardian ruins in the Teal Nebula: https://www.edsm.net/en/system/id/13152667/name/Eorl+Auwsy+SY-Z+d13-3468

While they are only ruins - no materials or blueprints to get Guardian equipment here - I still think it is a great place to visit. Seeing the Guardian site with a sky full of stars is breathtaking.

Visit Colonia.

Essentially a mini Bubble but 20000+ light years away from the cradle of civilisation, I really like the little enclave. If nothing else I would totally recommend going there to unlock the four engineers who live there and pin four blueprints for your remote workshop.

There used to be a regular fleet carrier shuttle that ran out there once or twice a week that you could get a free lift with but I'm not sure the situation now given the Live / Legacy divide. It was organised by the Fleet Carrier Owners' Club and you could find details in their Discord.

In fact, if there was interest I could be up for taking my carrier there again. Let me know if anyone wants a ride.

Which leads me to my next point.

Buy a Fleet Carrier.

Yes, it's a LOT of money but totally worth it in my opinion. Makes long range exporation a different kind of endeavour. I really like being able to take all my ships wherever I want.

Encounter a capital ship in a Conflict Zone.

About a year ago I dabbled in the Background Simulation. I supported a Federal faction in a particular system until their influence became great enough and a civil war was triggered in that system. I then saw a capital ship in a (high intensity iirc) conflict zone. Incredible sight and happily it was on my side!

As for exploration, here are some ideas (many/most of these you have probably already done, but it might give some ideas for other people):
  • Land on Mitterand Hollow, in the Epsilon Indi system. (If you don't know what it is, and why it's special, you'll see when you get there.)
  • Visit Hutton Orbital, in the Alpha Centauri system. (Probably everybody has already done this, but doesn't hurt suggesting.)
  • As an alternative, visit Katzenstein Dock, in the 36 Ophiuchi system.
  • Visit The Zurara.
  • Land on planet 1 of the CSI+46-20087 system. (It's the hottest landable planet I have ever encountered, at 18573 K.)
  • Land on the Planet of Death, in the SPOIHAAE XE-X D2-9 system.
  • Visit the planet D 5, in the Dabih Major system. (You'll know why when you arrive at the system.)
  • Visit Rackham's Peak.
  • Visit the Oevasy SG-Y D0 system.

Ooh, I've yet to do quite a few of those - thanks for the suggestions. Was beginning to wonder if anyone was going to contribute to this thread!

Do all the Tourist beacons, off and on it took me a year and a half :ROFLMAO:
Get to see some amazing sights and find your own along the way.

What's your psn cmdr? I can add you to a chat group with a lot of Elite players always lookin for someone to wing up with, or fight thargs, or bgs or cqc or anything!

We still love this game on console.

I might just do that if new features are Ody only - fire up my PS4 and see if I can get my FC up there, always wanted to go there but there was always traffic jams.
Most FC's were frozen at split, but some more may be decommissioned now surely?
I took my FC up there a few months back - the jam at the penultimate system was gone and I could make it all the way.

I'm not on nearly as much as I used to be but still love to get out there sometimes. Like I said at the top of this thread, I LOVE the galaxy.

Fr rq sent. I've noticed I tend to be more active or have more desire to be active when there are others online, even just for coms.
Got it, thanks. Currently playing Death Stranding but feel like getting the hotas out and strapping into my Anaconda later!

I started making my way now, only1 or 2 FC jumps per session and not everyday, but finding it very difficult to find FC jump stars at around 500 LY, usually much less than that.
I expect it gets much harder the further up you go?

Yeah, stars get few and far between the higher you go, hence Rackham Peak only being accessible by carrier.

There's a defined route once you get a few jumps in. You'd probably find it on Inara or EDSM I think.

The easiest way though is to go to spansh.co.uk and use its fleet carrier route plotter, a very handy tool.
