Newcomer / Intro If I store a ship - do I have to go back for it to swap?

This might sound daft but-----

If i buy a new ship say a Cobra at space station X and store my old Adder............ Do I have to go back to space station X to swap back from my Cobra in to my old Adder??

yes you do Obi wan , ships can t teleport , u find em where u left em .

May the force be with you ;)

Oh boo!

Ah well as I am trying to be a deep space explorer I guess certain sacrifices have to be made...... The old Adder and I had a good run. It's just hard to say goodbye some times............ Ahh this is why my wife thinks I'm a hoarder:eek:

Mine is G 180-18. I'm a friendly there and have a good relation with the locals - all "green". Plus, it's a good place to accessorize my ship as the base has all the cool toys. And there is Anarchy just a hop, skip and jump away. To get my fill of fighting there is plenty of comflict zones in nearby Ovid. Stop by and say "hello".

Come on over to Nuts...just for the name sake...good way to gain empire rank too...surrounded by empire systems.

Nuts...love the name!

Just because it's not obvious to some people - A sidewinder makes an excellent "shuttle" when moving your collection of ships to the same system. Just buy one, upgrade it with a bigger FSD (if needed) fly to your ship, downgrade it and sell it. It's just cost you 3200 cr to "hire" the sidewinder for 1 journey ( + fuel )

Use a hauler - upgrade FSD (resell before getting rid) Cheap E grade fuel scoop

Much better jump range than a sidey - less hassle

just a thought :)

Any good ideas for a central hub.....I'm still early doors2

Ideal Hub will contain:
High Pop - High Tech station within 1000ls . For storage, ships and upgrades
RES - For BH
Platform - Pay off FF fines from above - Will be close to the RES and have a Black Market
Be near a border so Bountys can be claimed easily

Now, why didn't I think of that!

as soon as I found out the system was in the game, I made a beeline for it, then once in the system went to Eridani 4 to see if a station was there, and there is, and it's the right station type to be Babylon 5-ish, with all the forky bits, and it's colored blue.

I think I may have to head out there too!

+1 for using the hauler as a shuttle. Fit best FSD and if you want buy some D modules to increase range further. Don't forget to sell those components before you sell the ship to avoid the 10% deduction. This way you only lose 10% of hauler base price, which is practically nothing.

Gah! Why didn't I think of this.

I was wondering how do you leave all your ships in the one place - unless you manage to buy them all from the same shipyard. It didn't occur to me to buy a "throwaway" Sidewinder as a shuttle. My ships are spread so far around the sectors I'm not sure a stock Sidewinder could even reach them.

Maybe they should add the ability to hire pilots to move ships around. I can imagine it'd be cool for some pilots to get to fly an Anaconda / Python / Fer de Lance etc. that they can't afford. It might open up some awkward space insurance/liability/legality issues though! :p
