If they made a Cobra IV ship kit and included the ship with it would you mind?

I really liked the Adder kit. I thought about maybe getting it but every time I think about maybe getting something else the first thing that enters my head is that there's stuff in the game I'm just walled off from no matter what and this kills any inclination.

Let's look at some facts

Number of players with Cobra IV - flat

Number of players without Cobra IV - always growing

% of active playerbase with Cobra IV - flat or decreasing

% of active playerbase without Cobra IV - exponentially increasing

Now on the one hand I don't want to start a precedent of selling ships. That would be total . This is only a one-time thing to fix a problem with this game.

But, Cobra IV peoples. Would you mind if a Cobra IV ship kit included the ship? Obviously you get the ship kit free.

I get that Frontier probably just wants to leave this alone and not touch it to risk stirring up any controversy. That's also why I came here to post this one and not on Steam forums. I'm curious about this though.

Yes, I would mind. Not because I am against you having it (you can have mine, it's such a useless ship) but because the forums would be full of people claiming that Frontier broke their promise (again). This place is already negative enough.

I'd rather they just introduced an unrestricted alternative to the CM4 with similar optional internals.

Having said that, with the two new C1 slots, the CM3, itself, can do almost everything that made the CM4 an especially useful small ship so I don't actually see a glaring need for a CM4 alternative right now.

Said it before but if FDev was to provide a "vintage" CM3 for sale, give it the CM4's optional internals and give it slightly wheezy core internals, I'd be there like a rat up a drainpipe.

C'mon FDev, you've got the model for the vintage CM3 from Jameson's ship.

For those that don't know the Cobra IV was an incentive for early Cmdrs to get Horizons.

The Cobra Mk IV is available to purchase using in-game credits for players who purchased both Elite Dangerous + Elite Dangerous: Horizons before a certain date (dependent on platform).

PC users are eligible to purchase the Cobra MKIV with in-game credits if they purchased Elite Dangerous + Elite Dangerous: Horizons before 5th Feb 2016. This includes Lifetime Expansion pass holders, Alpha & Premium Beta owners.

Xbox One users are eligible to purchase the Cobra MKIV with in-game credits if they purchased Elite Dangerous + the Horizons Season Pass before 30th July 2016.

I'm quite happy with the Mk III, one of my favourite ships for general poodling around.
I'd actually vote to keep it exclusive, which means I'd never have the chance to play with one, but a deal is a deal at the end of the day.

Funny, i just find this out not long ago about the Cobra MK IV. So naturally i went ingame the same day and grabbed one and have been using. I really enjoy the ship.
Now, had i been blocked from obtaining it yeah i would be in the same boat, looking for a way to obtain the ship. Seems like exclusive should not include ships. Maybe allow the MK IV to be unlocked in game via some grind like Empire and Alliance ships. That feels fair to me.

Sadly, with the last patch Frontier dishonored their agreement with those who (used to) have the exclusive Cobra MK IV by molesting it with two extra class 1 optional modules.

They should revert them all back to the original MKIV to honor that agreement, then maybe release a Cobra MK 4+2 for those interested in an ADC and super cruise control.

Can't, as far as I can see, it was short sightedly introduced and announced as an Exclusive, and no matter how many owners say they don't mind... One always will mind the rest of the world getting it.

I have it, I’m not bothered if everyone else now gets access to it but it was sold as an exclusive.
Imagine the uproar from LEP owners if they released free content for a couple of years...
