If you could make one change to E:D

law enforcement.

would do something more similar to EVE's system. that coupled with less instancing (more players per instance) would go along way in making open more interesting and accessible to newer players, while maintaining the actual danger within the game. Having security levels in the galaxy map displayed would make plotting routes more interesting than just A-B. And having law enforcement that's actually able to do their job would be nice.

this is all coming from a former pirate/smuggler. was just too easy.

This is just out in the open I would like to see at least a person sitting next to you fill in an open seat if you have a ship with a open seat to me looking at a open seat to me is lonely

More pirate interdictions. Something like ;-
  • High Security - Maybe attacked, Maybe not - Quick Security Response about 30-60 seconds
  • Medium Security - Good Chance of at least on - Slow Security Response about 60-120 seconds.
  • Low Security - Almost certainly a chance of attack - Rubbish Security Response about 120-180 seconds.
  • Populated Anarchy - Bloody Hell!! Brown Flight Pants - There's a security Response? Bwah Ha Ha ha.
Why?

Because it would break up the long boring flights and force players not to min-max their ships. It might encourage players to wing up more for their own protection. Elite: Dangerous lost a lot of the Dangerous when you can fly into a populated anarchy / low security system and land without incident.

I'd like to see a return, as an option, of the Newtonian flight model FE2 and FFE had. Obviously the Stardreamer would have to make a comeback too so this would be single player only unless FD managed somehow to make a hybrid flight model that still uses the present supercruise method to travel great distances. However in multiplayer those who mastered the Newtonian model would be at an advantage over those using the present system so this is why I think single player only, or private groups at most, would be best.
So... that would/could/should be OFF LINE MODE, yup I'd buy that for a dollar

What wld it be?
Why would you change it?
And how would you change it?

Theres so much potential to the game, i cant even decide what i'd change.. maybe i'll post it later! Really curious on your takes!

I'd change the developer. Not sure who, though something tells me Hello Games could have a hey-day with a serious simulator if they had one. Then again, while I really enjoy NMS a great deal of what makes NMS good isn't suitable for a space-sim like Elite.

I'd change the developer because it's fairly apparent they aren't able to realize the potential of Elite and are not focused on its supporting community. Fact is, the title isn't worth what the other titles are. It's just business. So, I'd change the developer to one that is solely invested in Elite.

Dunno how I'd change it seeing as I can't. Just is what it is.

Lots of great ideas are thought up and then terribly executed. Ask Edison or Da Vinci.
Great concept doesn't matter if you cannot execute it.

Much more clever and faster then the typical MMO.

Not interested in epic conflicts. If I wanted that I would be playing something like EVEOnline, and that game struggles when there are many players in combat too.

It's not as easy as you think.
EVE was always nigh unplayable mess in those epic battles. The stories make it sound more interesting than it was. I was in system when Goonfleet took down that Titan station back in the war vs BoB.

The main thing I'd change is for me to have more time to play. I cannot do that, so, here goes:
  • Bring back some of the really cool alpha test scenarios as 'real' scenarios to play - like the Wolf Pack Tactics one (you + a sidewinder NPC vs. a Cobra MkIII), and the one where you have to use stealth to drop your shields to avoid being spotted by the patrolling Cobra MkIII and take out three scientific Condors;
  • Likewise, the mission trailer that was shown before development even began where you and a bunch of NPCs take on an Imperial capital ship;
  • Would love to see a bit more fluff and ambiguity in missions, where the mission givers hint at extra things or other riches that can be obtained (and hint at real things to be achieved) rather than simply "do x to get y".
Other than that, though, pretty happy with the game (don't shoot me down!), looking forward to the updates coming between now and COP 2020...

I would have those blooming awful lights on the side struts of the cockpit in the asp line of ships removed. Makes the ship unflyable for me.

Sort out the star rendering, stop the texture popping and adjust the scale of the corona and surface details so that there is some clue as to size, every jump into a system results in the player facing one and other than colour they all end up looking the same size because there is zero visual frame of reference.

Hmm...

Maybe make ships visible in supercruise instead of balls of light. There can be a light-emitting effect behind them or something but I think it would make supercruise a lot more interesting visually.
