my issue isnt with npcs flying better.
its with psychic higher level ones interdicting me (im competent, when with cargo nothing except the odd expert or master and mostly dangerous npcs interdict - yet virtually no interdictions when im doing missions?), 2 or 3 times in any system im supercruising in for more time than it takes to jump, REGARDLESS OF THE SYSTEM SECURITY RATING, for 10 tons of cargo, and yet somehow the lower combat ranked ones only interdict when i DONT have cargo. without scanning HOW DO THEY KNOW WHAT CARGO I HAVE?
its npcs in ships that although same as my asp explorer somehow are more maneuvrable and pack more powerful weapons - i have the highest rated multis i can fit in the slots and 2 beams in the remaining small hardpoints - yet im being hit with weapons that strip shields in seconds? ok 5C with 2x 0A boosters isnt the greatest but 8 seconds?
its npcs who somehow when you got their shield down, but cant finish them, their shield comes up and is impervious to the fire you have - which was good enough to remove it before! did they suddenly gain 10 shield boosters?
also npcs with near infinite spam of chaff. if they can get more chaff than I can get from my chaff dispenser, then give me the same unlimited chaff. and make it auto activate when i get fired on by gimbal weapons and turrets.
its also npcs who interdict me (and optionally dont actually seem to have anything to fire at me but chaff - so why interdict?) and then spend time trying to ram me. no matter the ship type, they spear straight for you. in what way is this superior npc skill? how does a viper mk 3/4 trying to ram an asp explorer make any sense?
these are some of the reasons i voted other. the fights (when they are fights) are longer and sometimes more fun, a little more challenge - but not when they display any of the above.
finally, how are you supposed to have fun when in order to know if you can fight you need to fight a bit then decide its doable or you must flee - but if you choose to fight and it turns out to not be doable, he will kill your thrusters then your ship so you CANT escape? the game is forcing you to decide not 'can i beat this guy or do i need to run?' but 'should i run from all combat or have x% of certain death because you can no longer flee from combat if its unwinnable - unless you avoid being interdicted or immediately flee without trying it?' what use is any better npc AI if you have to always flee because even if a combat fitted combat ship it might get destroyed with no chance to fight OR get away?
the issues right now are making me not want to leave dock so no point playing. if i had infinite billions of rebuys like the pew-pews who love this, maybe i would love it to. but they did their grind. i am still in the middle of mine and now i have no chance to get those billions so i can afford to lose a ship every second jump.
