Exactly. I take anything with Ign with a grain of Salt. They are unreliable with ratings unless it is COD or other games like that.

Forcing your playerbase to play the campaign before they can play the sandbox with everything unlocked is a bit of a rubbish move. Sandbox should be just that; everything unlocked with no monetary constraints; they did it in Planet Coaster, so.. why not here?
But the reason building is so dull is that most of the maps are tightly constrained, so there’s not much room for creativity.
What i'd like to know is why did IGN give such a harsh score to this game? IGN has been working with Frontier for the last months bringing us diaries etc so they were heavily involved in the marketing. Did someone step on the toes of IGN or something because this just seems way off.
For the people who just wanted to play sandbox mode it is kind of sad that they have to unlock everything first. For me however I don't really mind that since I want to go through the whole set of islands before I even consider going to Isla Nublar.

I dunno hey, the fact that it's tightly constrained actually tells me players need to be creative in their building placement. I guess that's just how I approach it though.
Seems the reviewer needs a large flat plot of land on which to build to flex their "creativity."
Still not okay with that since Planet Coaster had it from the on-set; no need to play anything of the challenges/campaigns.Sandbox unlocks when you get the first island to 4 stars I think - pretty early.
Certainly seems that way.Frontier didn't pay them enough for a good rating

It's the "having to play to unlock things in sandbox" that I'm not keen on.
Agreed, sandbox should be separate from the campaign.
