Newcomer / Intro Illegal (not stolen) Goods and Station Scans? (Rep)

I could not find a direct answer to this question.

I see if you are caught while trying to smuggle illegal goods into a station that has deemed them so, you get a fine, and it can be pretty large, but does this do anything to Reputation? Increase smuggler rep, for skirting a scan, or if caught, lower that factions reputation toward you?

this is what i have been struggling with? where do we get illegal goods {slaves, ore, info etc.) and how does it effect rep?

You can get illegal goods at any station that sells them, certain goods are ok with certain locations, but if taken to another system, are deemed illegal to carry. So one good, such as Tobacco, may be ok in one system, but illegal in another, etc.

I can not for the life of me find how this impacts reputation though, if you get caught - because illegal goods are different than stolen, I would assume?
