Illegal Trade

So I've been doing some illegal smuggling and found it to be quite beneficial, more rewarding, and basically just fun. I'm sure there are downsides so feel free to tell me but if anyone has any tips about trading drugs and slaves feel free to chime in 😁

I have done it once before but as soon as I left the station that I got the job in I got fined 16k. I still need to figure out heat sink launchers and silent running

All I'd say is small ships draw less attention it seems and you can try shutting off most of your ship systems to lower your heat signatur(how scaners "see" you) so you don't have to worry about Silent Runing causeing problems because it hides your heat by traping it inside the ship.

I take it your doing the smuggling missions as your making money doing it. Speed is your friend if you can get in to the port fast enough they will never have time to scan you. Pay attension to what station they ask you to go... out posts are a free tiket as the security is almost non existant and you can just dock as normal.

dont try buying common ilegal goods at a place that sells them and then seling them on a black market where they are ilegal... you will invariably make a loss or just a couple of grand.

if you have heat sinks you dont need to go silent running usualy you can just keep useing heat sinks to keep your temp at less than 10 % as you head to the letter box

Hold up, youre telling me if i remove my heat signature i can dock in ports even if I have no permission?

I took an illegal job up but i wasnt allowed to dock. In fact ive come across a few instances where my docking request has been denied for no reason.

I make money just smugling cargo, in fact my highest single trade run was on a smugling run with Narcotics(some things never change I guess) which got me a 20,000+ profit. It was 24 tonnes, while my highest single tradeing run was 19,000+ with tradeing Mineral Oil with a Type 6 with a full 100 tonne cargo hold. I still get nowhere near as much as on the missions though, I mean 150,000 for delivering 2 Tobaco is not possible with just trading/smugling.

Only time's I'm denied is if I am further than 7.50km out, or one place I was interdicted and exited SC at the same time and an authority vessel attacked me so I killed and had a local bounty so was denied. If you're in Open maybe there wasn't a open pad? I hear alot of people don't enter the hanger and wind up causeing backtrafic in outposts.

Nah it happens all the time. I'm well within rage and I'm not given permission. Happened to me again and I'm not hostile to any faction. I can't do missions because of it.

You always have to request permission to land regardless what you are doing. Additionally, regardless of your wanted status that would never be reason for denied docking. Either you are out of range or the outpost is busy, when doing smuggling runs always look out for the ships around the station they are cops and will scan you. Also, the station will perform a random scan just boost through the letterbox and once you inside the station proceed as normal nobody will scan you at point.

Speed is the way to go, but of are not use to flying at high speed around station, then I will suggest to use silent running coupled with heat sink to keep your temps down. Even you don't want to use silent running, use heat sink to keep your ship temperature as close to zero as possible and nobody will notice you.

How do you sell illegal goods. Cant seem to see the black market on the bulletin boards..
Black market will be under contacts if the station has one. In order for you to find out if the station has a black market before making the trip, use the Galaxy map, then click system map highlight the station in question look under info, and will tell you everything they have to include black market.

you will see under trade the money I made was 22 tonnes of silver from ao qin to 21 draco I think. Why take the risk of illegal cargo when you can make more and easyer just trading. Unless its a bb mission of course.

Your stats say you're making more smugling in every aspect in that vid.
.
Mine are. Black Market profit: 258,788 whereas trading is 294,379(I used regular trading to get the money to buy my first smugling ship a Cobra Mk. III). Average profit for Smugling is 25,878 while reguar trading is only 4,460(with a larger cargo hold mind you). And Highest single profit was 82,240(not a mision but a full 24 tonne cargo hold of Slaves) wheras trading is a measly 31,400 which was 100tonnes of Agricultural Equipment.

The best stations are typically the platforms that you land on rather than in. I have never been scanned at one of these whereas I take the risk at a standard station. A docking computer can get you in the door pretty fast though, generally in under 50 seconds. I find that the profit far outweighs the fine so its an inconvenience but not much more.

A docking computer is horrible for smuggling I wouldn't use it if I'm in a rush.

If you are at a station that only has a few bays, and there are other players there docked, you will get permission denied, and will have to wait until the other players
undock. Also, if you are out beyond 7.5k you will get permission denied.

I did some missions in an eagle with a 4 bay cargo between Hrisastshi - (Bounds Hub) and Lalande 39866 - (Jernigan Orbital & Goddard City) smuggling drugs, slaves etc and was getting missions ranging from 50k to 80k for a while. Made about 400k in one night. Hardly any trouble either.
Today there were a few high paid jobs but not like the other night.
Might be worth a little look for you.
