Carebear is a pejorative term used against those that prefer Player vs Environment servers. Carebears prefer completing in-game tasks without outside interference or interaction (violent or otherwise) with opposing factions. This is in contrast to "PKs" who will often attempt to "Gank", or "PK", players of the opposing faction on servers that allow PvP combat while performing in-game tasks, or just the thrill of random open world combat.

I play Open and Mobius. I have a few friends who play Mobius and when they are online I am in that Private group, when online on my own - Open is where it is.

I still have to get a victory against those mean & nasty (You're not that mean & nasty really) SDC laddies!

No. That would be totally PvE if you want to label. I'm in open, and I'm perfectly fine with killing to defend myself or for a good cause. The game has been short on causes so far.
